Worship Schedule for August, 2019

Times Of Worship tHE PastOR’s PENDear friends,

I would like to use the Pastor’s Pen this month to catch you up on what is going on in our personal lives. We started off our summer on a stressful note: Bev had back surgery in June. she is recovering, but it has been painful and she is taking longer than we anticipated to heal. that said, all looks well and we expect her to feel much better in time.

someone told me at church that “older people tend to heal more slowly.” Well, that may be right, but I told him that he might try to comfort her with that observation, but I didn’t think I would. I wasn’t sure that would console her as much as you might think.

We’d like to say thank you to all of you who have surrounded our family with your love and prayers during this time. We are fortunate to be a part of such a loving congregation. We hope that she will be up to snuff (or close to snuff, anyway) in a few weeks.

This year I tried to find a continuing education opportunity unlike anything I’ve ever done before. and I succeeded! By the time you read this article, Bev and I will have spent a few days in California where we will have attended the National storytellers summit in Fremont. (Yes, she’ll attend some of the evening presentations by professional storytellers.) as you probably know, I love a good story and I can’t think of anything quite as fun as a national storytellers summit. I’ll take a course there on podcasting and storytelling, and hope to figure out a way I can develop a podcasting ministry through our church.

Then in August she and I will spend four or five days in Taos, New Mexico. We’ve gotten into a pattern these past couple of years of going to taos for a few days just to get away. sleeping late and eating New Mexican food are two activities neither one of us can seem to get enough of.

In our spare time we love being with the grandchildren. What a gift.

so that’s the season’s recap. I hope your summer is shaping up to be all you need. Let me say that ministry here at FuMC has been fun and rewarding. We appreciate you and love you.

Peace and joy!

We painted 33 doors, a play set, did landscaping, baked cookies for the guests, and arranged several storage areas and many other things. We kept the maintenance man, Mike, busy trying

to find things for us to do because everyone worked so hard. Thank you all for your support and prayers! Come hear more about our trips on august 18 during all church services.
