Walker Well, the competition season is over but we still have some events coming up before we start racing again next year. First is our Annual Awards Banquet to be held on January 19th, 2013 at Round the Bend Steakhouse in Ashland Nebraska. For those of you not familiar with it, it’s about half way between Omaha and Lincoln so you Lincolnites (and others west) will have a little shorter drive this year. Mikaela Walker is in charge of planning again and I’m sure would like some help. You can reach her at [email protected] if you’re interested. The last couple of years the attendance at the banquet has been down. We used to get right about 100 people showing up but have been down 15 or 20. If you’d like to see something particular at the banquet, let Mikaela know and we’ll see what we can do to accommodate. I believe cost this year is $20.00 again. No small feat considering the price increases we’ve been seeing over the years for banquet facilities. Registration will again be online at motorsportreg.com In February, Nebraska Region will host the Midwest Divisional Convention at the Holiday Inn next to the Ameristar Casino. We are looking for sponsors for various functions such as breaks and the welcome party. If you are interested, please contact Candy Gerber ( [email protected]) and help us out. We will also need people to help with registration and other functions. Again, Candy is the person to contact. You’ll also find in this issue the 2013 calendar of events. There are a couple events that may move due to conflicts with other events in the area. The Divisional Championship Solo event will possibly move due to a conflict with the Peru Solo. The MAM race July is on top of a Majors race at High Plains in Colorado and we’re discussing a move there as well. Stay tuned to the web site and newsletter for the latest calendar. Remember, if you post the calendar from this issue on the refrigerator, you

TOPEKA, Kan. (Oct. 18, 2012) -TOPEKA, Kan. (Oct. 18, 2012) -TOPEKA, Kan. (Oct. 18, 2012) -TOPEKA, Kan. (Oct. 18, 2012) -TOPEKA, Kan. (Oct. 18, 2012) -Sports Car Club of America’s Board of Directorsannounced today the most significant change toits amateur road racing program in 50 years.Following the 2013 season, “National” racing willbe phased out, with the U.S. Majors Tour servingas the top level of a two-tier SCCA Club Racingprogram in 2014.

“As the U.S. Majors Tour gains momentum, it willtake its natural position as the premier level ofcompetition within SCCA’s amateur road racingprogram,” SCCA Chairman Jerry Wannarka said. “By2014, amateur road racing will have two levels ofracing - the U.S. Majors Tour and Regional Racing, with the Majors program focused on clustering thebest and toughest competition and Regionalsfocused on local racing programs.”

“The changes over the next year will take thepremier events, geared toward our NationalChampionship drivers, and provide a better linkthrough a series managed by the SCCA NationalHeadquarters. For non-Majors events, this changewill remove the limitations that holding a Nationalevent have historically placed on our Regions, providing the flexibility needed to customize theirRegional Racing programs.

A path to the National Championship Runoffs willexist through both the Majors and Regionalprograms.

Details of the 2014 path are still being determined, although the Board has committed for paths toexist for Runoffs-eligible classes through both theU.S. Majors Tour and Regional Racing.

Details on Championship point structures, 2013events and Runoffs criteria will be announced inthe coming weeks.
