• Protect- prevent bacteria- oil(sebaceous) acidic• Sensory receptors- touch, pain, heat, cold especially fingertips• Prevents dryness (waterproof /keratin)• Synthesis of Vitamin D- sunlight• Regulate temperature- shiver or sweat

(sudoriferous)• Sweat rids of excess water and some wastes
