PURPOSE
This program was designed to provide education and be a resource for physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants who specialize in the treatment of neuroscience patients. The broad range of topics offer a blend of information on adult and pediatric patient care as well as the most recent advances in the field of stroke, aneurysm, imaging, neurocritical care management and endoscopic brain procedures.

Describe the latest endovascular treatments for acute stroke
Cite recent advances in open surgical treatment of brain aneurysms
Recite the surgical risks and long term management of DBS for Parkinson’s disease
List emerging areas where DBS may prove useful
List complications and assessment of patients with ventriculo-peritoneal shunts
Recognize minimally invasive techniques to remove pituitary tumors and skull based tumors
Review current literature on CT perfusion
Describe the use of CT perfusion in acute stroke
Identify which patients are potential candidates for epilepsy surgery
Understand the neuroscience team approach to the acute stroke patients
