Judge Kenneth (Ken) Bryant Hodges, III (Albany, GA) Judge Hodges took office on January 1, 2019. With deep experience in diverse prac-tice areas, Judge Hodges has served as a prosecutor, defended criminal cases, and been on both sides of a dispute in civil matters. Judge Hodges was elected President of the State Bar of Georgia (2018-2019), the first judge to lead the

organization in its history. He is a member and past President of the Dougherty County Bar Association and has been widely recognized for his legal and civic accomplishments during his more than 27 years as a practicing attorney, including as the recipient of the State Bar's Commitment to Equality Award, the Justice Benham Award for Community Service, and The Eagle Award from the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council for his work on behalf of crime victims. Judge Hodges has been named a Legal Elite, a Super Lawyer, and has served on the board of the Albany Civil Rights Institute. While at the UGA Law School, he participated in a clinical program with a public defender and practiced under the Third Year Student Practice Act. After law school, he clerked and worked for a litigation firm in Atlanta, later returning to Albany as an Assistant District Attorney. In 2015, Ken started his own law firm, based in Albany and Atlanta. Ken and his wife, Melissa, have two children, a dog, and a leopard gecko. An avid pilot, Judge Hodges is commercial, instrument, and multi-engine rated, and enjoys being up in the air.

Jennifer L. Lewis (McDonough, GA) Jen Lewis is the Circuit Public Defender for the Flint Judicial Circuit (Henry County). She graduated from Golden Gate University School of Law with a specialization in Litigation in 2006. She started out at a national law firm but came running back to do what she loves - Public Defense. She started with the Georgia Public Defender Council (GPDC) in 2007 as a Juvenile

Court Attorney and moved to Superior Court in 2009. She has tried all levels of cases and finds Voir Dire to be thrilling! Being a Public Defender is Jen’s calling in life; she is incredibly proud of the work her office does. She has extensive experience with mental health cases and is fluent in Spanish. In addition to her love of trying cases, Jen has a passion for teaching young lawyers our craft. She teaches at Emory Law School’s Kessler-Eidson Trial Techniques Program, as well as GPDC’s TILPP. Finally, Jen is lucky to go home to her husband, two children, two dogs, one fish… and a fantastic collection of shoes!

Chief Justice Harold D. Melton (Atlanta, GA) Chief Jus-tice Harold Melton was appointed to the Georgia Supreme Court by Governor Sonny Perdue on July 1, 2005. Prior to joining the Court, Justice Melton served as Executive Counsel to Governor Perdue. Be-fore that, he spent 11 years in the Georgia Department of Law under two Attorneys General where he

dealt with issues ranging from the creation of the Georgia Lottery Corporation to the administration of Georgia’s to-bacco settlement. Justice Melton received a Bachelor of Science degree from Auburn University and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Georgia in 1991. He serves on the Board of Atlanta Youth Academies and is on the local and national board for Young Life youth ministry. A native of Washington, D.C., Justice Melton currently resides in Atlanta with his wife, Kimberly, and their three children.

Edward Donald Tolley (Athens, GA) Ed is a renowned criminal defense attorney, a crack civil and business litigator, a leading authority on the law and legal ethics, and an active community leader. As a criminal attorney, Ed often represents defendants in high-profile cases. From murder to racketeering, business fraud, environmental, and domestic terrorism cases, Ed’s career

has covered the spectrum of state and federal criminal cases. Over the years, he has succeeded in helping several clients avoid the death penalty. Ed is a past president of GACDL, the Western Circuit Bar Association, and the Clarke County Board of Education, and a retired officer in the U.S. Army Reserve. His professional affiliations are too numerous to list, but include serving on the State Bar of Georgia’s Board of Governors, the Georgia Bar Foundation, and the American Board of Criminal Lawyers. Ed earned his J.D., B.B.A, and M.B.A from the University of Georgia. He has been named as a Georgia Super Lawyer 2005 to present and received the Indigent Defense Award in 1983 and 1988.
