Themed “Make It New: Create the Future,” the 109th AALL Annual Meeting will include a day of preconference workshops and leadership training, followed by three days of activities designed to enhance the legal information professional’s career, featuring more than 70 educational programs, a range of networking opportunities, and a legal solutions marketplace showcasing more than 80 vendors. In addition to programming in six core tracks—business of law; data and content management; leadership, administration, and career development; marketing, communication, and advocacy; research; and teaching and training—the conference will feature must-have sessions on essential topics identified by AALL members. These sessions will include: “Research Competencies: From Classroom to Practice”; “Disruptunity: The Legal Research Revolution is Now”; and “Vanishing Online: Legal and Policy Implications for Libraries of the EU's ‘Right to Be Forgotten.’” This year’s “deep dives”—extended sessions for the comprehensive exploration of critical content—will include advanced analytics in competitive intelligence, big data dynamics, and the ever-popular technology-focused “Cool Tools Café.” Additionally, preconference workshops will offer half- to full-day specialized programming such as the Conference for Newer Law Librarians (CONELL) and the PLLIP Summit that is designed for, but not limited to, private law librarians. “AALL 2016’s theme, ‘Make It New: Create the Future,’ was inspired in part by the innovation and vision found in Chicago,” said AALL President Keith Ann Stiverson. “The 2016 AALL Annual Meeting & Conference offers legal information professionals valuable opportunities to learn, connect, and collaborate that will benefit their professional growth and their places of employment, while elevating the entire profession.” Early-bird registration is available through June 3, 2016. Full conference registrants who are not AALL members will receive a complimentary one-year AALL membership.

More than 1,500 Legal Information Professionals Expected in Chicago for Premier Education and Networking Event

CHICAGO, February 16, 2016—The American Association of Law Libraries (AALL) officially opened online registration today for the 2016 AALL Annual Meeting & Conference, to be held July 16-19 at the Hyatt Regency Chicago.

Themed “Make It New: Create the Future,” the 109th AALL Annual Meeting will include a day of preconference workshops and leadership training, followed by three days of activities designed to enhance the legal information professional’s career, featuring more than 70 educational programs, a range of networking opportunities, and a legal solutions marketplace showcasing more than 80 vendors.
