■GROUP 1 - 1 additional credit in English, French or other

language, social science, or Canadian and world studies, guidance education or Co-op

■GROUP 2 - 1 additional credit in health and physical

education, the arts, or business studies, or French, or Co-op

UNIVERSITY/COLLEGE BOUND?

� Universities require 6 courses at the 4M or 4U level

for their entrance average.

� Last year the average at Western was 83% or higher for the 6 marks

� You may want to take one 4U or 4M course

in grade 11 if you are university bound to lighten

your course load in grade 12.

� Colleges will look at grade 11 and 12 marks for

program entrance.

CO-OPERATIVE EDUCATION

Co-op allows you to experience a real-world work environment and earn 2 credits

Open to all grade 11 students—its course code is GWL3OD

Work in an area of interest to YOU

Two periods a day (i.e. 3 and 4)

Explore a career and learn real on-the-job skills

COURSE LOAD

� All Grades 9-11 students are expected to carry a full timetable (4 courses per semester)

� In myBlueprint, pick 8 courses and 2 alternate courses

� If you are planning on taking a course in summer school, you must still select the course in myBlueprint(When you get the summer school credit, we will change your timetable to reflect this.)

� Summer school registration will begin some time in April

■ Grade 11 marks are important……especially for college and early university acceptance.

■ Plan grade 11 and 12 courses now.

■ What you choose determines how many classes we can offer - choose wisely!!!!!

This Friday at lunch, departments will be in the ATRIUM to answer questions about courses for next year. Learn about course content, prerequisites, field trips, etc.

There are new courses being offered so make sure you pop by to find out more!

THE REGISTRATION PROCESS

1) Take your course selection guide home ...

- use your credit counselling summary to determine

what you need

- discuss your options with your parents

- make your course decisions and circle them on the program chart in your course selection guide

2) Register your courses in myBlueprint.ca/tvdsbeither at home or with your class on the assigned lab day (NEXT WEEK DURING PERIOD 1 or 2)

3) Return the signed course selection sign-off sheet to your Home Room teacher by Mon, Feb. 26

� Helps to plan your high school, post-secondary and future career

� A great online resource

� Has more uses than just being a registration tool

� It will help you with goal setting, occupation planning,financial planning and resumes and cover letters

� A verification form, with your selected courses, will be sent home with your midterm report card in April

� If you wish to change a course,

fill out the verification form with the

change and return it to Guidance

� Remember to PLAN CAREFULLY!

(It is difficult to change courses once the timetable

is built)

SUMMER SCHOOL

If you plan to go to Summer School for a course, still put it in your course selection

Come to guidance in April/May to sign up for summer school

Once you have received the course we will put

in your first alternate in its place
