Intro to CADD for Shop Teachers Using AutoCad - David Sharpe

"An introduction to two-dimensional(2D) computer-aided drawing using AutoCAD. The

purpose of this session is to provide instructors, with little or no experience using AutoCAD,

the basic skills needed to create and draw projects that can be used in their classrooms.

Participants will be instructed how to: create/start drawings, basic set-up of drawings,

draw commands including lines and other geometry, modification commands, lettering,

basic dimensioning, and plotting. The skills learned in this session will impact student learning

through implementation of Digital Learning in the classroom. The session is designed to meet

requirements for NC Digital Learning Competencies for Classroom Teachers that is now required

for license renewal.

Leadership in Digital Learning

Teachers will demonstrate leadership in accelerating their integration of digital teaching

and learning pedagogies. Engage in virtual and face-to-face learning communities to expand

mastery of technological applications for professional growth and student learning.

CEUs: 0.7 (4 hours classroom instruction w/ 3 hour project to be submitted to the instructor.)

With over 120 competitive events, there is an opportunity to engage every student in your

classroom, however, there is a lot to learn to be able to utilize these competitive events to

greatest benefit of your students. In this workshop, we explore the various categories of

competitive events, explain preparation and training strategies, and get you ready to enter

any of the competitive event opportunities that SkillsUSA offers.

Chapter Excellence Program:

The Chapter Excellence Program is an essential tool to help you organize your chapter, develop

student leaders, and create a program of work that will engage students in SkillsUSA activities

throughout the year. The Chapter Excellence Program is a superb guide for how to operate your

chapter and will help you grow at a pace that works for you. By utilizing this program, you will

also be eligible for State and National recognition based on what you do at the local level. This

program rewards you for regular chapter activities and engaging members. Whether you are just

starting your chapter or looking to take yours to the next level, CEP will give you the steps you

need to make it happen.

Preparing for the Autodesk Certification Exams

This session we will be covering everything you need to know as a teacher

about the Certiport.com Portal, how to proctor your students Adobe & Autodesk certification

exams, How to create GMetrix Practice Test for your students along with GMetrix Tips and

Tricks, Adobe & Autodesk Badging.

Adobe ACA Certification Exams Christy Dye

Autodesk Certification Exams

In this session you will be taking Adobe & AutoDesk Certification exams. If time permits, you

are welcome to try for more than one certification. Each Certification exams takes 50 minutes.

The last Certification exam will start at 3:45pm. If you don’t already have a certiport.com account

please register for one prior to this session by going to www.certiport.com and selecting

Login/Register on the top right.

Public Safety “Best Practices Session” Charles Autrey

This session will highlight the relationship between McDowell High School and McDowell

Technical Community College. The current relationship allows us to offer Associate of Applied

Science in Emergency Management classes during the school day through the Career and College

Promise program, as well as offer a Fire Technology IV class over the summer that results in

students being truly job-ready when they leave high school. Explanation and techniques on how

this process works will be discussed in this session. Also explained is how the funding the college

provides to increase the career opportunities for our students.

There will be an “Ask and Answer’ portion at the end of this session.

Advanced Manufacturing Session Jason Perakis & Shane Stewart

This session will be a continuation of our discussion from Summer Conference. Best practices

and methods you are using to teach CPT certification (Certified Production Technician). We will

discuss how to use Amatrol, Intelitek, Educate Workforce, High Performance Manufacturing

Text Book, or any other resource that may apply to obtaining CPT Certification. We want

everyone to share the trainers or handmade tools that you have found effective for hands on

application. We will have a time to discuss preparation for CPT Certification and the Final Exam.

NCCER Best Practices "What Every NCCER Instructor Should Know" Jonte Hawkins

After completing this workshop, you will be able to:

• Use the Blueprint given from DPI to make a weekly pacing guide to know exactly where

you need to be at any given point during the semester or year.

• Have the ability to use Google classroom for a “paperless” classroom.

• Understand the NCCER’s IRC and use it efficiently

Dreamweaver HTML Coding with DW 2018 Darcus Whitley

The goal is to have a working website template that you can use for yourself or your class

and also to teach your class how to make their own website. We will go over the interface, the

windows, panels, menu, create and define web sites. We will be using HTML and CSS code and

basically writing the codes ourselves as opposed to letting Dreamweaver to do it for you.

Digital Media - Adobe Acrobat DC Stephanie Dicken

Adobe Acrobat is so much more than just a program to view and send PDF files. Attendees

will learn how to utilize the many features of this application to aid them in the classroom.

Teachers will need to bring a laptop with Adobe CC preloaded and their own surge protector

Learn Adobe Illustrator and techniques for simplifying complicated techniques in a way that

students will understand. We will use a variety of outside resources that will help you in the

classroom and cover the basics of using the Adobe Education Exchange.

Engage your Generation Z students with hands-on experiential learning aids and simulation

technologies to further student understanding, create an interactive classroom and address

career path exploration. In this session, attendees will learn:

• Methods for engaging students with 21st Century technology

• Ideas for incorporating career exploration into the classroom

• Techniques for providing hands-on job skill development opportunities

• Ways to reduce classroom management and safety concerns while saving money on costly

consumables

Trade & Industry Resource Center Keith Edwards

This will be a talk/show session put on by Learning Labs. Area covered will be welding

simulator, 3D printer, CPT preparation and 911 Public Safety simulator. Take the opportunity for

a hands-on approach and demonstration of each of these classroom equipment items.

Woodwork Career Alliance (WCA) Teacher Certification Daniel Kern

Montgomery County Schools’ Woodworking Teacher, and WCA Certifying Teacher, Daniel

Kern, will facilitate the WCA initial Teacher Certification for Woodworking Teachers that have

not completed this Required Training. Mr. Kern, and T&I Consultant, Craig Pendergraft will also

facilitate a Q&A relating to the current Woodworking courses. If you have already completed

this initial certification training, but are planning on attending the conference, please feel free to

join us to catch up on any and all updated information related to WCA and our Woodworking

courses.

Using the NCCER Online Testing System Larry Clark

This session will be covering information relevant to the NCCER Online Testing

System. Whether you are already using the system or not, this will be very informative time to

learn more about the system, and how it can help make your module testing more efficient use of

your time, and actual quality of testing for your students.
