Call for Papers Interested participants are requested to send their papers not exceeding 5 pages in A4 size paper to the Director, SCERT. The papers should be related to the theme and sent in both hard and soft copies. The papers should contain title, introduction, objectives, experimental methods, results, conclusions, references, etc., The papers shall be sent stage wise i.e, primary, upper primary and secondary separately. Screening committee will short list the papers based on originality and quality and the participants of selected papers will be informed accordingly. Mathematics is far from the expected levels and it hasbeen a matter of concern. Many National and StateLevel Studies have also revealed the same.

Further Learning of Mathematics has becomeindispensible at School level owing to its significantrole that plays in the world of Technology. The days aregone, where studying of Mathematics is not consideredas cup of Tea for everyone. But today though it is notconsidered as an easy subject as of other subjects formany people, but due to its high utilitarian and intellec-tual values, it occupied as a core subject in the SchoolCurriculum. It is said that ‘Mathematics is for everychild and every child can Learn Mathematics’.

Unfortunately our school system is not wellequipped to make Every Child Learn Mathematics at areasonable level. Perhaps the mathematics curriculumor textbooks or classroom teaching is making Mathe-matics a drudgery experience for many children. Manychildren are bogged with Math Phobia, which has be-come a serious impediment for learning Mathematics.The classroom practices of many Mathematics teachersare not helping to ground the mathematical concepts inthe young minds. Mathematical thinking is not becom-ing a central issue in the Teaching learning process.The Curriculum and the textbooks don’t reflect theneeds and aspirations of the children, it is got delinkedwith daily life skills, the contexts provided as a learningexperience are of alien in nature. About SCERT

SCERT is the academic wing of the Departmentof School Education in formulating and imple-menting the policies and programmes of theGovernment in the field of School Education. Inaddition, SCERT has been identified as Aca-demic authority for implementing RTE Act,2009. The following are the main functions ofSCERT.

Preparation of curriculum, instructional mate-rial for Primary, Upper Primary, Secondaryand alternative systems of education.

Coordination with national and internationalorganizations in academic programmes.

About Seminar

Mathematics plays an important role inhuman life and it is said to be corner stone in allround development of a person and hence it hasbeen incorporated in school curriculum as a coresubject area. But the performance of children in

causative factors that made Learning ofMathematics as a painful experience for ma-jority of the children in the country.

The recent curricular reforms thatwere enunciated through National Curricu-lum Frame work -2005 in the areas of Cur-riculum, textbooks, Teaching Learningprocesses and Assessment procedures set astage to bring the reforms in the School Ed-ucation in our State. The AP State Curricu-lum Frame work-2011; the development ofnew textbooks with an emphasis on Knowl-edge Construction, discovery approach, crit-ical pedagogy, new assessment proceduresintroduced in the form of CCE are certain ini-tiatives that are forayed in the scenario of theSchool Education in the State. Thereforethere is a need to put in concerted efforts tomake Mathematics learning more enjoyableand achieve desired learning outcomesamong the children.

In this backdrop, the conduct ofSeminar on Innovations in MathematicsTeaching at State Level assumes significancebringing the Mathematicians, Educationists,Classroom Practitioners on one forum helpsin exploring the ideas, ways and means inmaking Mathematics Teaching a meaningful,productive, intellectual and pleasurable ex-perience for the children to lead the chal-lenges of the 21st Century with confidenceand courage.
