General Practitioners (GPs) have a similar role to Family Doctors in many other countries, providing medical care in the community. They are the first point of contact for patients with most work being carried out via consultations in the GP Practices and during home visits.
What is GP training?GP training takes 3 years. Training takes place in GP practices and hospitals, with trainees needing to pass the MRCGP examination to become a qualified GP.. What GP training posts are available?There are over 600 vacancies across England. The recruitment process is via the GP national recruitment office: http://gprecruitment.hee.nhs.uk/Recruitment.This website also shows the location of the vacancies which are spread throughout England, but does not include London.
