EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
Lessons from Katrina: Leadership and Preparedness in the 21st Century
In this rousing speech, Gen. Honoré shares leadership lessons from his command of Joint
Task Force-Katrina as well as the benefits of developing a culture of preparedness. The “Category V General” discusses the essential qualities that 21st century leaders need, including “decision superiority,” the ability to “see first, understand first, and act first.” On
preparedness, Gen. Honoré believes waiting until disaster hits and then responding is dealing with problems on the “right side” of disaster, and that we should be dealing with the “left side” of disaster -- before it strikes. Bold and insightful, Honoré’s strategies are sure to motivate audiences to see local, national, and international leadership issues in a new light.• Lt. General Russel L. Honoré (Ret.),
Commander of Joint Task Force Katrina and Global Preparedness Authority
On the Edge: The Art of High-Impact Leadership
Imagine yourself on the highest mountain in the world. You have to deal with the physiological
effects of extreme altitude -- along with bone-chilling temperatures, battering winds, and a climbing team that’s counting on all of its members to make smart decisions. There’s simply no room for poor judgment -- one mistake or
misstep can result in an “unrecoverable error.” Drawing on her experience as team captain of the first American Women’s Everest Expedition, Alison Levine makes a compelling case that the leadership principles that apply in the world of extreme adventure also apply to today’s rigorously competitive business environments.SPONSORED BY: FHI

Best Practices in Fresh Supply Chain
Transporting temperature sensitive cargo, especially fresh foods, adds an additional degree of complexity, urgency and responsibility for supply chains. Beyond affecting the bottom line, an improperly managed cold chain can lead to serious quality and safety concerns. By tailoring supply chain best practices for sensitive
cold chains, shippers around the world can mitigate risk and better control the final outcome. Learn about some of the best practices in shipping fresh to traditional supermarkets, convenience, drug and club stores, and beyond. • C.H. Robinson Worldwide, Inc.
Collaborative Planning to Improve On-Shelf Availability – An Insight to Action Report
The TPA On-Shelf Availability Team is back with retailer-supplier case studies to advance industry learning and solutions. This interactive session will share the progress of this initiative’s third phase to bring on-shelf availability to a covetable 98 percent. This session will demonstrate real-life examples of how collaborative
planning, using one demand signal in support of market-driven events, can deliver higher on-shelf availability and customer satisfaction while improving sales and reducing excess inventories.• Nestlé USA• Delhaize America

The Food Waste Reduction Alliance (FWRA) is a cross-industry collaboration among food manufacturers, retailers and the foodservice sector focused on reducing wasted food. FWRA has created industry benchmarking and best practices to help reduce food waste by donating more good food, reducing food waste throughout the supply chain, and redirecting unavoidable food waste away from landfills to productive use.
This session will provide an overview of the urgency of this issue and highlight specific success stories on how companies are using new food waste reduction tools and solutions to save money, increase employee engagement, and build reputation.• ConAgra Foods• Wendy’s Quality Supply Chain
