Ukulele Classes with Julie Bradley

These lessons are a continuation for ukulele players covering range of chords and introducing new strumming and picking techniques. We dip into pop, country, rock, folk and blues tunes. Come and join us! BYO ukulele.

Embroidery Project This term you will learn how to do Cross Stitch onto a t-shirt or a windcheater. So choose a good quality garment that you want to put a cross stitch design on then purchase some coordinating embroidery threads. Bring along your scissors, needles etc

Briagolong Wool Group This group will be held every 2nd Monday of the month, 10am to 1.00pm For everyone who loves to work with fleece and wool. All wool crafters are welcome, wheel spinners, hand spinners, knitters, crocheters and weavers.

Gentle Exercise for Over 55s with Bruce Males

Bruce teaches Tai Chi for flexibility in over 55’s who require low impact on the body to allow for health issues. This is a fun class that includes a friendly cuppa afterwards and a chat with friends.

Hatha Yoga with tutor Robyn Cox-Livingstone

Robyn is an experienced instructor and enjoys teaching others her great skills. Come and learn how to become healthier and gain flexibility as well as learning relaxation techniques. This class is suitable for returning students of all ages.

Briagolong History Group This group will meet in the Supper Room at the Mechanics Institute Hall every 3rd Thursday of each month at 2pm. Discussions will be on the history of Briagolong also showing photos and articles from early years.

BRIAGOLONG GARDEN CLUB

BEGINNER’S Yoga with tutor Robyn Cox-Livingstone

Robyn will now be continuing her Beginner’s Hatha Yoga classes. Learn how to relax while becoming more flexible and in tune with your body. The class finishes with a 5 minute meditation so you leave feeling calm and relaxed.

CROCHET - Stitches, Stars & Squares These classes are for people that know the basic chain, double crochet, half treble, treble and double trebles. Over the 8 weeks you will learn C2C, Waffle Stitch, Chevron, 3 types of Aran Squares and our last project will be how to crochet a 12 point Star blanket. You will receive instructions for each stitch, guidance and patterns for each project.

Essential Oils with Sarah at Indigo Wellness Cottage This is a 2 hour workshop where you will learn about the uses and benefits of essential oils and make some blends to take home. Basic Wrought Iron Workshop with Peter Frost. This is a hands-on workshop where you will learn the following Techniques of Basic Wrought Iron: * How to set up a forge and anvil, *Use of basic metal principles, *Learn about basic heat treatments , *You will be guided by Peter to do your own work sample, * Learn important skills. Spinning Workshop with Jen Parker Hand Spinning Yarn Learn to spin fleece into thread that can be used for crochet, knitting, weaving and other textile projects using a Mayan Spindle. This fun and fluffy work-shop is suitable for beginners and more experienced spinners. Students will learn how to spin with hand dyed fleece to create a bright multi coloured yarn.

Option of buying the spindle for an extra $20.

Mixed Media Art Group “Beginners Welcome” Combining many different ways of creating art in a group session once a month. Watercolour, Sketching, Acrylic or Oil Painting, Ipad Art, Pencil, Pastel and even Photography. There are no set rules to what you can do in this group. Come along and enjoy yourself.

Page 9 “Saturday” Decoupage Workshop Let your creative juices flow and enjoy making some special items for yourself or friends. You can choose from many different items like glass objects, craft ply wood or paper mache moulds. You will need to bring glossy magazines, pva glue and a nylon or talon craft paint brush 1/2 inch or 1 inch depending on size of project.

Saturday 15th February 10.00am to 1.00pm Cost $10.00 Google some ideas. There is so much you can do with decoupage.

Brie Cheese Making Come and learn how to make your own Brie Cheese with Kathy. You will be given all the information you need to go home and continue to make brie for your family. This workshop is run over 2 days for a total of 5 hours so you can see first hand how to do one of the important steps which must be done after 24 hours.

Kusudama Workshop Kusudama is the art of Japanese Paper Flowers. They can be made in all different sizes, left on their own or joined together to make a beautiful display. You will need to bring double sided scrapbook paper, glue stick, ruler & cutting mat, paper cutter blade or scissors, a small bead or pearl approximately 8mm to coordinate with the chosen paper.

Briag Pottery Workshop with Geoffrey Viney Our pottery workshops are very informative and enjoyable so come and join us. You will have 4 hours to use your imagination to make hand built pottery using pinch, coil and slab techniques. Geoffrey will bring 3 potter’s wheels so you can all have time to learn and practice making bowls, jugs or whatever you like.

Our Committee meetings are held every few months and start at 10.30am. The duration of our

meetings are approx. 1 - 1.5 hrs. Please ring for the next date.

New Members Welcome

Other services we offer: We have our “Telecentre” available for use during open hours. Cost is $3.00 per hour to use the computer & internet or $2.00 for computer use only.

A volunteer transport service to assist disadvantaged people

(i.e. elderly and those without means of transport from family or friends) to get to medical

appointments. “MiniCare” is run though the Central Gipps-land Health Service. Volunteer drivers are reimbursed for fuel by CGHS and the client pays a donation of $5.00 per ride.

NEW VOLUNTEERS ARE ALWAYS NEEDED.

Neighbourhood Houses.
