• Person persecuted for their race, religion, nationality,

• Belongs to a particular social group, or

• Political opinion.

RESETTLEMENT THROUGH THE UNITED NATIONS HIGH COMMISSIONER FOR REFUGEES

• Apply for Refugee status

• Tell your life story to UNHCR

• After accepted, wait for a country opening

• Interview with country’s government (U.S.=INS)

• If accepted, must pass medical exam

• International Organization for Migration arranges travel
