• 80 fourth graders put through a drama course to see if there would be a change in their creativity

• Researchers measured pretest and posttest results using the Torrance Test of Creative Thinking and t-test analysis

Results of Ozdemir and Cakmak’s study

• The creativity scores of the students increased a statistically significant amount after taking the drama education course.

• Results proved that drama exercises learning, socialization, problem solving, communication, independence, self-actualization, sharing responsibilities, and more

Ozdemir and Cakmak conclude:

“Creative drama in education increases durability of the knowledge that the individuals experience in a learning environment where they can express themselves freely. Therefore, creative drama needs to be compulsory a part of all teacher education programs in each department of faculty of education aiming to prepare future classroom teachers for all grade levels. Also, the findings of this research suggest that creative drama should be an indispensable part of education and its use should be promoted in in-service teacher training programs and there needs to be efforts to make creative drama continually usable at schools.” (26).
