Each expert knows that in cooling and heat-ing installations losses of volume arise, even in well closed systems. For a great part these losses are to be allocated to air bleeding, dripping connections or vapour diffusion.

If the water make-up is not performed in due time and with the correct quantity, this will result in a malfunction of the expansion vessel. When the system is operated at lower temperature, vacuum at the highest points of the circuits may occur due to a too little water quantity in the system. Next is the aspiration of air into the circuits result-ing in well known phenomenons: bubbling sounds, insufficient heath transmission, cold radiators, corrosion and sludge accu-mulation.

reflex ’control’: Clever water make-up units

Both fully automatic make-up units reflex ’magcontrol’ and ’fillcontrol’ offer pressure monitoring and pressure-dependent water make-up in systems equipped with conventional expansion vessels. For a safe permanent connection with the potable water mains the ’fillcontrol’ is provided with a double check valve system separa-tor and a pressure reducer. For the same reason the ’magcontrol’ can be extended with the reflex ’fillset’.

The reflex ’control P’ is an all-purpose water make-up unit fitted with a booster pump and built-in break tank for a physical separation from the potable water mains. Can be applied as well in systems with conventional expansion vessels as in systems with pressurization units.

In the event that the system pressure drops below the gas pre-set pressure (p0) of the expansion vessel, the vessel will be empty of water; this will result in a malfunction of the vessel
