    1. Fully state the standard in bold text. Then write a paragraph explaining your knowledge andunderstanding of the standardput the standard into your own words.

This standard is about how I, as a teacher, understand how to assess the needs of my students and

differentiate my instruction by using a variety of assessment techniques. With these different

strategies, I will stimulate students learning through critical thinking, problem solving, and

performance skills. This standard is about how I will use assessment to determine the varying

needs of the students in my class to create adaptations, scaffolding, and differentiation in my

instruction. This is standard addresses how I will use the results of the assessments administered

to adjust and monitor my teaching strategies. I will also use a variety of interventions to

facilitate meaningful inclusion of individuals in the classroom with disabilities.

    2. Explain how the artifact you chose demonstrates your understanding and application of thestandard.

This artifact is a graphic organizer that presents ten different instructional techniques that I could

use in my future classroom to accommodate for the different needs that are present in my

classroom. This graphic organizer provides strategies that can benefit students on the Autism

spectrum, students that are at risk behaviorally or academically, ESL, gifted, socially

transitioning students, as well as students with cultural barriers. This compilation of ideas range

from peer tutoring, the use of native languages, graphic organizers, timelines, individualized

instruction, learning centers and stations, guided reading, and student self-evaluation. With each

tool, the graphic organizer includes how to use the activity in a diverse classroom, an example of

how the technique could be implemented, and an analysis of where and when to use the activity

in the classroom and for whom it would best be suited. This graphic organizer proves that I am

considering a variety of instructional strategies, and students development though many different

    methods.

A If the artifact has been used in your practice, reflect on how your teaching will change inthe future to further meet the standard.B If the artifact has not been used in your practice, i.e., a class assignment, reflect upon how

your teaching will be impacted by the assignment.

The artifact itself has not been used in my practice, however, many of the techniques have been.

I currently use DIBELS assessments in my classroom to periodically monitor the reading skills

and progress of my students. Through the use of this monitoring, my co-operating teacher and I

create guided reading groups, where the students direct needs are addressed and basic skills are

in-turn reinforced. This use of assessment has been beneficial for students at all levels of reading

because their instruction is more individualized to their personal needs. Tools such as

assessment can be used to better my instruction. Using a variety of assessmentboth formal and

informal, for both behavioral and academic needs, will greatly assist me in my future classroom

as I learn to differentiate my instruction to meet the needs of each student in my classroom.

Being in tune with how my students are doing, will help me to know where to apply each form of

intervention, and how to get the best use out of the strategies listed in this graphic organizer.

    4. Conclude with a paragraph discussing how you are more prepared to Teach and Learn in aDiverse Society as a result of satisfactorily meeting the standard.

By completing the assessment graphic organizer, I am more prepared to teach in a diverse

classroom because I have strategies that will be stepping stones in finding the right technique to

meet the needs of each students. In this graphic organizer, I have learned many different ways to

recognize the varying needs among my studentswhether it be ESL modifications, behavioral

modification strategies, special education inclusion, or differentiation techniques for students

above or below grade level. This range of student needs can be met through the use of

individualized intervention, and having a list compiled will be helpful when I have a classroom

of my own and am struggling to find the right tool to use for the betterment of my students.
