10TH ANNIVERSARY This year saw the college celebrate its 10th year of service to the community.Festivities were held in the form of the Twilight Markets, Gala Dinner and achurch chapel service in Mangiri. It was a wonderful time to reflect on theachievements of the past 10 years and to tell stories about the journey thus far. Itwas also a time to reconnect with old scholars and staff and to look forward tofurther developments in the next 10 years.

FAB LAB LAUNCHMid year, the purpose built FabLab was completed. This facility combines the hands on skills offabrication and construction with that of digital design and technology. It has been an asset forMiddle School STEM and design, as well as for Senior School design.

CRICKET NETSEarlier in the year, the cricket nets were completed. This provides a valuable resource to ourgrowing numbers of cricket enthusiasts.

PEDAL PRIXFor the third consecutive year, students from the MIddle School participated in the Pedal Prix.Students in Year 6/7 attended the 6 hour race in Adelaide and those in Year 8/9 attended the 24hour race in Murray Bridge. Teams continue to improve and increase their professionalism andcompetitiveness, whilst having plenty of fun and bonding as a team.

VET (VOCATIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING) - COME AND TRY DAYSThis year, Navigator College combined with the Port Lincoln High School, St Joseph’s School andTAFE SA to provide all Year 10 students with the opportunity to try a series of VET courses. Thesesessions were held just prior to the subject selections and course counselling for 2020.

PARENT ENGAGEMENT GROUP (PEG)In term 4 we launched our inaugural ParentEngagement Group ( PEG). The launch was asocial event at the Beer Garden Brewing and italso was a opportunity to brainstorm what thegroup might entail in 2020. Stay tuned for someexciting was to engage as parents in the newyear.

FUNDRAISING Our band of eager volunteers worked tirelessly to raise additional funds for the college as well asto create an atmosphere at events that encourage families to invite their friends along. The 2significant events, the ‘Twilight Markets’ and the ‘Night with Navigator’ raised over $14,000.These monies have been earmarked for the projects around the College. Many thanks to ouramazing volunteers whose efforts are extremely appreciated.

LOOSE PARTSThe Junior School continues to begin theirday with a focus on loose parts. Thisbeginning to the day is designed to set thetone for the learning that will occur during theday. A focus on problem solving and tappinginto a creative mindset, unlocks these skills inreadiness for the anticipated learning journeyfor the day. As creatively and problem solvingare needed more in more in school leavers, afocus on this as early as Reception is a positivestep.

PYP EXHIBITION AND MYP COMMUNITY PROJECT(PYP - Primary Years Program and MYP - Middle Years Program)As one of the requirements of an International Baccalaureate schools, both the Year Fives andthe Year Nines complete their exhibition and community project. Students researched areas ofpassion and worked closely with mentors to investigate an issue, planned action to support theissue and then presented their learning journey to the wider community. Once again, thestudents excelled as researches, as advocates for change and for action.

SENIOR SCHOOL EXPANSIONWe look forward with excitement to 2020, when we begin the process of building the SeniorSchool Expansion. These plans will bring together the Visual Art and Science domains into theoverall space of the Senior School. Complemented with a student gathering lounge, Café areaand flexible break-out spaces; students will have greater choice regarding their learning needsduring study times.

MUSIC EXTENSIONThe other building project for 2020 is the music room extension. The overwhelming success ofthe music program means that the students need additional space to gather for their lessons.The proposed extension will allow greater rehearsal space and additional practice rooms forinstrumental music lessons.
