Friends in Christ,
What an exciting event we have planned for the first week-
end in November! On that first weekend we will have only one worship ser-
vice at 10:00a.m., Sunday morning in the church sanctuary. This service will lift
up the best of LCR worship. Each of our styles will be represented. We will sing a tra-
ditional hymn but we will also be led in song by the Café Service band and the singers
and musicians of the Connections Service. I can’t wait – it’s going to be so much fun
to get us all together worshiping God at the same time in the same space! Whether
you are a regular at Saturday night 5:00p.m., Sunday 8:30, 11:00 or 1:00pm; make
plans to attend this special combined service.
Immediately following the service, we will stop to dedicate the beautiful new fountain
in the meditation area of the west breezeway. Next, we will head into the hall for a
delicious lunch featuring barbeque accompanied by potluck dishes brought by us.
During the meal, we will hold a brief congregational meeting during which we will ap-
prove the budget for 2015 (please bring your copy – included in this newsletter) and
we will elect new council members. Following lunch the children (and adults!) will be
invited to the east side of the property to visit the petting zoo and pony rides. Please
invite your friends to join us. As you know, at LCR all are welcome!
Just remember: Sunday, November 2nd, there will be only one weekend
worship service at 10:00a.m. Saturday 5:00p.m. and Sunday 8:30, 11:00, and
1:00p.m. will not be held that weekend. We will return to our regular service sched-
ule on the weekend of November 8th and 9th.
Make plans to join us! Thanks, Pastor Jay P.S. I promise to keep the service short!
Remember to set your clocks back one hour before going to bed on November 1st.
Daylight Savings Time ends.
Council Members Jim Gray, President Jim Carlson, Stewardship Dan Evans, Vice-President Troy McCoy, Social Ministry Michael Miller, Secretary Marcia Wilson, Evangelism Jenn Billingham, Fellowship Shirley Midthune, Christian Education Tina Williams, Property Debbie Rescott, Treasurer (Advisor) Angelika Domschke, Worship Alfred Domschke, Financial Sec. (Advisor)
The Church Council meeting was held on October 14th and here are some highlights of discussions and decisions.
The meeting began with a devotion and prayer led by the pastor.
- Minutes of the last two meetings were reviewed and approved. The agenda was reviewed.
- Sarah Davis, our Youth Activities Coordinator, was present to give her quarterly report to council. She ex-
plained that the new Sunday school is very interactive with a worship setting. Eight to ten children have been ac-
tively participating in the program. Parents are not coming to the session with their children as much, but youth
are serving as her helpers. Confirmation students will be asked to assist from time to time. The thinking is that
they will not only be learning the faith, but helping Sarah to teach it. The J-Walkers has an average attendance of
6- 10 youth. They plan a variety of fundraisers to prepare for the trip to the national youth gathering in Detroit,
2015. The group has sponsored an African boy named, Samwell. The funds help with his education. They will
also be pen pals. So far, five children and two adults are planning to attend the event in Detroit. Participants are
asked to pay the $150 registration fee.
- The Financial Secretary reported that aggregate giving is $26,729 higher than last year to this point. Average
attendance for September was down from 172 to 164.
- The Treasurer reported that there was $25,485 in the checking account as of the end of September.
- Evangelism – On a recent Saturday, when our two bike shop leaders were both away, one of our friends, Ste-
phen, ran the bike shop. The crew that day was made up almost entirely of the homeless. Greeter guidelines are
ready for approval and new bumper stickers will be made available to the congregation on Reformation weekend.
- Worship – preparations are underway for a special choir concert to be held in the sanctuary on Sunday evening,
November 16th. The congregation is invited to attend. In a recent two week test of a larger format bulletin for
Sunday morning worship, over 80% of those responding voted for the smaller version so that is what the commit-
tee will stick with. We will be looking at making the smaller version with larger print.
- Fellowship – Plans were shared for the upcoming All Saints/Homecoming celebration. The food will be barbe-
que with potluck. The activities on that day are still being finalized. Many dates on the fellowship hour signup
remain open.
- Social Ministry – Count of pantry food items given by worshipers in September: 258. The amount has been
falling below the need.
- Property – members have received training in simple repairs around the church. Not only is it a benefit to them,
but will prepare them to help with church repairs in the future. Lawn cutting is being done on an alternating area
plan: inner and outer areas. The City of Cocoa Beach is still working on signage regulations. We should have an
answer on our main sign soon.
Old Business –
- The nominating committee suggests the following individuals for nomination to council –
Property – Tina Williams (returning for a 2nd term)
President – Alfred Domschke (to replace Jim Gray who is going off)
Vice President – Jim VanZino
Education – Carole Glynn
Budget and Finance – Dave LeGoullon
Financial Secretary – Michelle Davis

- Choir Loft A/C – Climatic Air to do the new return. $4,467. The duct type will match what is currently
there. The new return should pull cold air up into the choir loft. The work is scheduled to begin the last week
in October and will be done before November 2nd.
- The budget for 2015 was reviewed and approved.
- The congregation meeting agenda was discussed.
New Business –
- A member has come forward who is willing to be trained to maintain and update the church website on a
monthly basis. Funds will be taken from a long dormant designated fund, the banner fund, to supply the fee
for two hours of training by the designer of the site. Motion passed.

Hope to see you Saturday mornings. If you prefer to work other than Saturday mornings please be sure

RESURRECTION LUTHERAN CHURCH-321.783.0852 lcrcb.org
Welcome to the Evangelism Corner!
Pray, Care & Share:
We follow Him. Our God is first! Be thankful for His directions in our lives, families, work and our church.
Have you counted “a” blessing today? Was it unexpected? Have you been a blessing today to someone in need? These are ordinary days, just plain regular days of our lives. Knowing this, do they still reflect His work and actions as we live them out? Re-member . . . “what good is it if a man claims to have faith but has no works?” NEV Bi-ble James 2:14. Faith can be as simple as cans of food dropped off for the pantry or as complex as holding onto the hand of a dying friend. Make a choice today. Serve, it can give you the boast you need to live. Now go and really live . . . “follow where our captain trod.” - “Lift High the Cross.”
Remember our military and veterans with thankful hearts.
We are Lois and Harry Brantley. We came here to Res-urrection about ten years ago from Seaside Chapel at Pat-rick AFB where we had know Pastor Tom Unrath as one of our Chaplains. We were looking for a church home and, when we learned that he was filling in while Pastor Jay was deployed with the Marines in Iraq, we decided to attend here. Upon Pastor Jay’s return we thought the least we could do was hear him preach before moving on. The rest is history. We met and married while Harry was serving in the Navy and have been married for 63 years. We have four grown children, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. We did a 32 year career in the Navy and served overseas tours in Germany and Spain, and unaccompanied tour at Naval Station, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. We had shore tours in Washington D.C., Key West, San Diego and at the Defense Race Relations Institute at Patrick AFB. Harry served aboard a small seaplane tender, an aircraft carrier, and made two deployments to Vietnam aboard a destroyer from 1966-1968. We retired at Patrick AFB on May 1, 1979 and have lived in Satellite Beach the past 38 years.
