Dear Parishioners:

Jesus challenges us today to remain Faithful to Him, even when events turn against us. Yes, life can be painful at times. Sometimes the pain is from the despair of human suffering. Faith frees us from fear. Faith increases when we are willing to bear our, "Share of hardship for the Gospel with the strength that comes from God." This spiritual growth is explained in our second read-ing: "Stir into flame the gift of God that you have..."

Pope Benedict XVI explains, "Faith is a liberation of my I from its preoccupa-tion with self... a breaking out of the isolation that is the malady of my I." God designed family life to gently and naturally grow our Faith, Hope and Love together. Sometimes that means having fun as a family. This weekend St. Joseph The Worker celebrates Octoberfest - all are welcome! Be sure to participate in the Living Rosary in the afternoon. We will "Increase our Faith" all five Sundays this October with our new Grace 2.0 series: Mercy in Motion! To spiritually reinvigorate, we will embrace the five ways God grows our Faith.

Thank You for participating in the family of God.

Blessings upon you, Fr. Gabriel

GRACE 2.0 From our Leadership Team: Our October parish Theme invites us to reflect on mercy’s mission to us from God and mercy’s mission from us to others. Mercy moves, forward and through. Mercy often hides, dis-guised in the circumstances of our life. It shows up in the (seed) littleness and smallness, in our struggles and disappointments, in our sleepless nights and worried days. Mercy surprises us and bridges the gaps be-

tween what we know and see and don’t know and can’t see. It holds and secures us through all circumstances. God blesses us with his mercy wrapping all of who we are in God’s abundance. We do rejoice to possess our very own mus-tard seed of this faith and seek ways to grow it.

American Martyrs Retreat House “What’s Next? Journeying with Jesus.” In the gospels Jesus would often invite his close friends to come apart awhile, to be alone with him. On this retreat he invites us to come apart a while with him, we say yes & we come just as we are. Like Mary we say, “Here I am Lord, do with me as you will. Come Holy Spirit. Before we take Jesus to our families, to others, to the world & into cyberspace we know we want to spend time with him in inner space. Jesus is knocking at the door of our hearts. We want to open our hearts. Come Lord Jesus, come. We want to say ”Speak Lord your servant is listening.” Msgr. Russell Bleich, the retreat director, The retreat fee is $135 per person for the weekend. $25 deposit secures your reser-vation. The retreat starts at 8 pm Friday & ends Sunday after lunch.
