blending streams to achieve the required CN

specification for diesel fuels. A more cost-

effective solution is to use Innospec’s Cetane

Number Improver additives. Our technicians

carry out a Blending and Cetane Number

Improver response study to determine the

best solution. By using our additives the

refiners can use their valuable high CN

streams in other blending activities and

increase their middle distillate production.

Optimising treat rates while boosting productivity

With a complex blending matrix and with increasingly

varied crude oil qualities, refiners often struggle to

achieve the Cold Filter Plugging Point (CFPP)

specification during the production of different diesel

fuel blends. Our technical experts can quickly assess

refinery streams and carry out blending model studies

to match blend characteristics to the correct type of

Cold Flow Improver (CFI). Any problem streams that

might adversely affect the treatment are soon

identified. With our help a refiner can achieve

specification more reliably while remaining

confident that the additive is being used at its

most cost-effective treat rate.
