Accessing this function. This function can be accessed from the supplied executable file or from within the CAD application.

ExplorerBrowse to the FEA_SYS folder. The location may vary depending on the installation.

In the folder FEA_SYS\Prog\Gen, run the file RefManConfigfeasol.exe

Note – the following switches are also applicable:

/U User settings.

/QD Define and save a reference query.

For use of these options refer to the Reference Manager - User Manual.

AutoCAD

Open the Reference Manager Panels slide-out to expose the additional controls.

Common Controls

Select Project Folder

Browse to the base folder for the project files.

Select OK.

Ideally this should be the folder with theproject name as this folder will be used toidentify the project.

The reference manager program will create the folders requiredfor the Reference Manager system files.

If the project settings file found the dialog will be updated. If notfound no changes will be made to the values in the dialog. Thisallows for settings to be copied from an existing project to a newproject without the need to manipulate files in folders.

UpdateTo save the settings the update button must be clicked. If it is not clicked the settings will not be saved. Thisallows for the review of the project settings without saving.

CloseThis closes the Configuration Options WITHOUT saving.

General Settings

Office NameThis value will be used in the naming of the data files created by this program.

This is so that multiple offices/sites may create files that are either in a common location, or synchronisedbetween locations, but each office retains ownership of their data files.

Files & Folders

RefMan Main Folder This defines the folder names created within each projects folder structure.

The first folder ‘FEASol’ is intended to group all folders created by FEA Solutionfunctions in a common area.

The second folder ‘RefMan’ is to group all files and folders created for thereference manager program.

It is recommended to keep the default values.

Data Files Folder Sub Folder name for program data files for the project.

These are the files that list the references and associated data.

Query Files Folder Sub Folder name for saved defined queries for the project.

These files are available for all users and are intended to be standard querydefinitions associated with CAD files.

It is recommended to keep the default value.

Ref Lists Files Folder Sub folder for various lists used by the program.

I.e. default layer colours for file names applied when adding the reference to thedata files.

It is recommended to keep the default value.

Acis Files Folder The name of the sub folder, to the CAD files location, where the ACIS models arelocated. This is utilised when third party application or vertical products areutilised but assemblies are required to be built using native CAD objects.

I.e. ProSteel and or AutoCAD Plant objects may need to be converted for otherCAD applications such as Tekla.

It is recommended to keep the default value.

Hatch File Folder The name of the sub folder, to the CAD files location, where the Hatch models arelocated.

This has been utilised in systems where Hatch patterns have been utilised in themodelling process and need to be converted for visibility in Autodesk Navisworks.

It is recommended to keep the default value.

User Config Folder Location for the user based configuration files.

This includes program dependant temporary files.

It is recommended to keep the default value.

File Name Separator Text character used within the CAD file name to separate the characters used asto define the purpose of the CAD file.

I.e. PROJECT-AREA-DISCIPLINE-SEQUENCE, separator is “-“

File Name Data Lengths Comma separated value list of integers to separate the characters used as todefine the purpose of the CAD file.

If this method is required then the File Name Separator value must be cleared,

I.e. PROJECTAREADISCIPLINESEQUENCE, definition list is 7,4,10,8.

Allowable File Mask Defines the standard format of the file names.

i.e. XXXX-YYY-Z-nnn would use the mask ????-???-?-???

or replace the sequence of ? with * for unlimited number of characters.

i.e. XXXX-YYY-Z-nnn can use the mask *-???-*-???

Allow All Files This enables/disables the use of the allowable file mask.

Offset File Data Pos Integer defining the location of the data, used for the offset/rotation/scalefeature, within the CAD file name.

Note this value starts from 0.

i.e. if the AREA data is to be used from the format

PROJECT-AREA-DISCIPLINE-SEQUENCE, then the value will be 1.

Display Class Data Pos Integer defining the location of the data, used for LAYER colour setting definedwith the Display Class feature, within the CAD file name.

Note this value starts from 0.

i.e. if the DISICIPLINE data is to be used from the format

PROJECT-AREA-DISCIPLINE-SEQUENCE, then the value will be 2.

CAD Files Folder This list of sub-folders is used by the functionality that checks if the projects CADfiles have been added to the reference managers data lists.

Descriptions

This interface configures the descriptions used to define the location of objects that are not located within a‘building’.

I.e. A conveyor may be defined by its designated asset number and function. Items in the Take-up area forConveyor CV101 may be defined by the location description CV101TU.

It may also be used for small buildings where it is not necessary to separate the assemblies by grids and levels.

I.e. Crushing stations, train load out etc.

Station/Area Names & CodeThis defines a location prefix. This is the principle defining data.

Examples

CV Conveyor

RC Reclaim

SS Sizing Station

ST Station

THICK Thickener Area

Do not use reserved codes.

Suffix Names & CodeThis defines a location suffix. This is the secondary defining data, or sub-area.

Examples

HE Head End

TU Take up

TE Tail End

Do not use reserved codes.

Project Names & CodeThis allows for the separating of models used in different phases of the project.

Reserved Location Description CodesThe following codes are used internally by the function and should not be used in the configuration

GALNLV

Building

Building Name & CodeSpecify the code and description for each building in the project.

Do not use reserved codes.

Building, Level & DescriptionAdd the description and level (Z value) for each definable level within the building.

Letter ‘A’ is intended to be the lowest level.

This data is used to present a description to the user when constructing a query. This eliminates the need to knowwhat code has been assigned to each level. A query can be defined without this information and it may beupdated at any time.

Layers

Layer for ReferencesThe layer name for locating the reference objects.

This must be unique so that the program can identify which references it may and may not manipulate.

Layer Prefix for Spec’The prefix applied to the location specification when used as the target layer for the reference.

Layer Name Spec for Visibility ControlSpecification for layer visibility (freeze/thaw) by the reference manager user query setting.

I.e. in the above example all layers within the reference files will be not be displayed (frozen) but those startingwith 3D_ will be visible (thawed).

Note the specification is prefixed with *| so that only the layers within reference files are modified. (AutoCAD).

Layer Name Spec for Colour ControlThis is an additional specification for colour setting that can be used in preference to the saved value for eachreference in the data lists. Refer to the Reference Manager - User Manual.

Offsets

In this interface the offset, rotation and scale factors can be defined. These values are then applied to thereferences based on the CAD file name data location setting.

This is used when areas of the site are drawn in a different coordinate systems and/or scale.

Display Class

This data is used by the function that allows reference’s to be loaded and unloaded based on a file namespecification.

When applied, the defined file name separator is added to the code and compared to the references name.

I.e. “*-P-*” is used for the PIPE file name code P.
