ZEHN

ZEHN – this is the number that has been with us

throughout 2015. It’s our tenth year, so we’ve been

looking back, sifting through anecdotes and occa-

sionally glancing around in amazement – there have

been nine editions of the Reeperbahn Festival since

2006 and now the tenth is under way! We wanted

to distil these impressions, and so we enlisted the

help of associates, friends, colleagues, and partners.

And here are the results:

< a documentary film with Ray Cokes, Nagel,

Joakim Svenningson & Daniel Johansson (Friska

Viljor), Artur Schock & Lars Lewerenz (Audiolith),

Stefanie Hochmuth (Uebel & Gefährlich), Nico Cham

(FUCK ART LET’S DANCE), Andi Schmidt (Molotow),

Dan MacAdam (Crosshair Silkscreen Design), Ant-

je Schröder (Grace Helly Graphics), and Ralf Krü-

ger (Feinkunst Krüger). The film can be viewed at

reeperbahnfestival.com.

< an exhibition, ZEHN. Curators Kathrin Hunze

and Naemi Eckert have reassembled material from

previous festival years and produced a guided jour-

ney through the festival’s history.

< an anniversary magazine: in this publication

authors share their views, anecdotes, and utopi-

as. With: Eric Eitel, Gereon Klug, Johnny Haeusler,

Klaus Gropper, Ray Cokes, Sascha Ehlert, Bernd

Begemann, Dagobert, Joakim Svenningson & Daniel

Johansson (Friska Viljor), Henning May (AnnenMay-

Kantereit), Leslie Clio, Kevin Hamann (ClickClickDe-

cker), and Mimi. Featuring illustrations and collages

by Tine Fetz, Malte Spindler, Rocket & Wink, and

Tomke Berning; and photos by Nina Zimmermann

and Lidija Develovska. Available during the Reeper-

bahn Festival at all info and merch desks and at

WUNDERKINDER – GERMAN MUSIC TALENT

On the evening of 23 September a total of ten acts will perform in the three venues Mojo Club, Prinzen-bar and Kukuun with special experts amongst the audience – handpicked international buyers from the publishing, live entertainment, and recording industry sectors.

The „Wunderkinder“ project aims to help German artists establish and maintain a solid, long-term po-sition in the international market.

More information: www.reeperbahnfestival.com/en/conference/wunderkinder

Wunderkinder – German Music Talent is supported by Initiative Musik gGmbH with project funds from the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media on the basis of a resolution passed by German Bundestag.

NEXT15

NEXT15 – CELEBRATINGDIGITAL LIFE

With over 10,000 visitors from 40 countries, NEXT has established itself in recent years as a premier conference in Germany for the digital economy. Foun-ded in Hamburg in 2006, the event has taken place in Berlin since 2010. Now NEXT is returning to its roots, to merge with Germany‘s largest club festival – the Reeperbahn Festival, and to come up with a program-me platform which will bring together representatives of the music and digital economy in a unique way.

NEXT will discuss the impacts of the digital transfor-mation with leading minds from all around the world. The annual event gathers together people in diverse industries, who hold key positions in companies, ins-titutions or start-ups. NEXT will attract an estimated 1,000 participants on 24 and 25 September, 2015.

„It is always wise to look ahead, but difficult to look further than you can see” – so goes the renowned quote. The NEXT Festival will find profound ans-wers to the big question „What’s NEXT?“. The Festival will put aside the science fiction, so the spotlight can be turned solely on relevant business insights that inform the best decisions of tomorrow. A tomorrow where technology disrupts and displa-ces the old economy faster than business’ ability to rise to the challenge of creating a new one.

NEXT15 will be turning the spotlight on the consu-mers and try to discover „How we will LIVE”. The Festival wants to discuss the core drivers of to-morrow’s upcoming and yesterday’s irrelevant: the NEXT customer needs that are probably unmet, the NEXT habit-forming business models that haven’t been thought of yet, and the NEXT strategies that break free from old economy logics.

VUT INDIE DAYS

The VUT INDIE DAYS have already established themselves as Germany´s essential event for recor-ded music. For the first time, the VUT Indie Days are part of Reeperbahn Festival turning Hamburg´s Reeperbahn into a meeting place for the entire in-dependent music industry. The VUT Indie Days are organized by VUT – The German Association of Independent Music Companies and encompass a broad range of events: Committees and plenums will be meeting internally on 23 September.

Panels, which were developed in close cooperation with the team of Reeperbahn Festival, will cover rele-vant topics and current challenges for independents ranging from streaming services, German public ra-dio stations, women in music to hip-hop and politics. Keynotes by internationally renowned speakers of the independent music industry are also part of the program as well as interactive formats like matching sessions and workshops to connect German inde-pendents with international music companies. Last but certainly not least: The VIA! VUT Indie Awards, the first prizes for independent excellence, will cele-brate independent artists and companies once again.

On the evening of 24 September, the VIA! VUT Indie Awards will be awarded in six categories based on quality and not on sales figures. Last year Annuluk (Best Newcomer), Gregor Schwellenbach (Best Ex-periment), The Notwist (Best Album), Staatsakt (Best Label), Ja, Panik (Best Act) and Dimitri Hegemann (Special Prize) won an award.

In diesem
