REDEFINING FINANCE RECRUITINGUNIVERSITY INFORMATION PACKET

EMPOWER YOUR STUDENTSBloomberg Institute is the educational branch of Bloomberg L.P., a leading global data and news source. The Institute leveraged Bloomberg’s expertise in financial information and industry contacts to develop the Bloomberg Aptitude Test (BAT). The BAT helps students and recent alumni evaluate their strengths and weaknesses and connect with financial employers worldwide.

THE TEST

THE BLOOMBERG APTITUDE TEST (BAT)

The BAT is a global, standardized online exam that measures a student’s aptitude for a career in business and finance. Students are given 2 hours to complete 100 multiple-choice questions across 8 key performance areas.» News Analysis» Economics» Math Skills» Analytical Reasoning

The BAT requires no prep, meaning that a student does not have to be finance major to perform well on the exam. If a student has a genuine interest in finance or business, follows the financial press and has taken an introductory economics class, he or she has the potential to obtain a high score on the BAT.

Students can take the BAT at anytime from a computer with a webcam via our e-proctoring platform. This new platform is free for students during Beta. On-campus sessions are also offered free of charge to first time test takers.

BENEFITSSCORING

ENHANCE YOUR CURRICULUM

After taking the BAT, students receive an overall score ranging from 200–800 (each section from 0 to 50) and a percentile ranking. The percentile ranking is key to showing a test taker’s performance compared with his/her global peers. Students who score in the top 10 test takers for their region are recognized in the “BAT hall of Fame” on our website—an achievement that most highlight on their resumes/Cvs and social media profiles.

The Bloomberg Institute team can provide a comprehensive score report that covers students’ performance. This report details how your students compare with all global test takers by region, graduation year and area of study.

Over the past year, the BAT has taken on a larger role in the classroom and on university campuses. Many professors have incorporated the BAT into their curriculum as an alternative to a final paper or presentation and to offer extra credit. The BAT is a valuable tool for evaluating the overall performance of a university’s business program for national rankings and assurance of learning for accreditations.

CONNECT TO THE WORLD’S FINANCIAL ELITE

In a competitive job market, the BAT provides a unique opportunity to connect with hundreds of employers at once and get a leg up on the competition. After completing the BAT, each test taker is anonymously entered into the BAT database. This database is consulted daily on our website and on the Bloomberg terminal by employers looking to fill internship and entry-level positions. Employers look at individual section scores to match a student’s skills to the specific requirements needed for a position.

when an employer views a test taker’s profile, no personal information is visible keeping the test taker in complete control over who sees identifiable information. If a perspective employer finds a student’s score compelling, they can request to start a conversation with that individual. The test taker then decides if he or she would like to accept or reject the connection. Test takers have complete control over who can view his/her profile. If a student does not want to allow any of their information to be revealed, he/she can remove themselves from the database.
