We chose the Douro demarcated region for the first application ofthe system and the launch of the Porto Douro Wines PDOExchange, due to:
• its economic value - has the highest turnover of PortuguesePDOs or PGIs;
• the regulation it applies - has a controlling entity of the twoPDOs, IVDP, with 85 years of existence;
• the challenge of digitization it represents - currently produces aconsiderable amount of data.
With the validation of this first application, we are able to replicateit to other PDO or PGI productions (more than 2800), regardless ofsize, existing in any territory of the European market, given itseconomic expression, the type of product and the availableinformation.
In this unique environment are the Enablers of this newvalue chain, in an organized chaos, for digital internationaltrade.
