Dear Parents and Caregivers,
The wild weather over the weekend left the school reasonably intact with minor flooding of
classrooms and trees losing branches being the only damage. The clearing up process has
not hampered the normal running of the school at all and my thanks to Mark Bailey who co-
ordinated the tree clearing.
Revision week for Middle School students has allowed them the opportunity to catch a
breath and ensure that their work is up to date and that they have all the required infor-
mation to confidently prepare for the Half-Yearly Examinations.
Year 10 and Year 11 examinations started this Friday and continue until the end of the term.
All students will certainly enjoy the Queen’s Birthday weekend to get an extended time to
prepare for the week ahead.
Congratulations to the various choirs and bands who have been involved in the Sydney Ei-
steddfod.
The Senior Jazz Ensemble of Ariel Pakanowski, Sacha Styles, Adam Petrovic, Edward Yi, Emil
Gabrielson, Miles Bornman, Liam Wright, Tyler Davis, Macartney Cohen and Adrean Keldoulis
came 3rd in the Novice Stage Band Section. Well done to them and their tutor, Mr Tallis.
Congratulations to the Senior Choir on being selected as a finalist in Sydney Eisteddfod’s, The
John Lamble Foundation Australasian Choral Championships. This is based on their exception-
al performance in the first round of the Eisteddfod.
This weekend there are very few sports fixtures as it is a long weekend. Next week, due to ex-
aminations, there will be no sport practices but should your child be involved in a match next
weekend, those will continue as normal and students are expected to play.
There will also be no Thursday morning Year 7 ensembles next week but Mrs. Bortolotti will
want her choir rehearsing at the times she has communicated to them.
Next week we are trying something new for our students who find the examination period de-
bilitatingly stressful. Danna Fain will be running a mindfulness programme each day from
8:00am – 8:45am to help students relax before the commencement of their daily examina-
tion. This will occur in the Middle School Dance Studio.
Students may go home after the completion of each day’s exams in order to study. Should
this prove difficult for some parents, students are able to study at school in the library or class-
rooms that will remain open until 5:30pm.
Have a calm week.

A picture is worth a 1,000 words! These past
two weeks we have been honing in on prod-
uct and services ideas for each one of the
fourty nine entrepreneurship students to
launch this year. The first product prototype
arrived for one of the students and the excite-
ment was palpable!
If you see these faces around school, stop and
ask them to share their innovative ideas and
be awed.
We have also had our fair share of inspiration
and motivation from two outstanding entre-
preneurs. Wayne Shainfeld, the CEO of Prime
Practice, captivated the students with his talk
on The Secrets of a Successful Entrepreneur!
He connected with every student and taught
us valuable leadership and life lessons.
Kuba Tymula, the Founder and Managing
Director of Harris Partners, had the students
write down their "big, hairy, audacious
goals" and the steps they need to take to
get there. He talked to us about the power
of dreaming big and the challenges to
overcome in order to achieve that dream.

YEAR 9—yLEAD CONFERENCE
Last Tuesday, the Year 9 Executive joined representatives from others schools for a leadership con-
ference called yLead. The focus of the conference was to promote leadership, uniqueness, and
bravery. Three amazing guest speakers: Melissa Abu-Gazaleh, Barnaby Howarth, and Jack Delosa
shared their life experiences and lessons learned with us. Each had a unique story which reflect-
ed what it truly means to be a leader.
Melissa, who was the 2016 Young Australian of the Year, founded the organisation "Top Blokes" at
the age of 19. Her goal is to empower young men through work experience, education, and men-
toring. Her personal experiences taught us about having a vision, and seeing it through, no matter
what. Barnaby Howarth, an ex-Sydney Swans AFL player, had a truly inspirational story. He was di-
agnosed with Type 1 Diabetes during his early teens, and at 25, he was bashed and had a stroke
as a result. As if that wasn't tragic enough, his girlfriend was diagnosed with cancer. Today he has a
successful career, is married to that girlfriend, and travels the world inspiring others. Overcoming all
of these odds taught him that life is for living. To not take it for granted and to enjoy every moment
is what life is about. We learnt that life is too short, and is precious.
Finally, Jack Delosa shared with us his "rags to riches" journey through life, a story of constant fail-
ure. He ignored people trying to deny his dreams, and started several businesses, which eventually
succeeded beyond any expectation. His message to us was: Find your passion and live it. If it is
good for you, good for others, and good for the planet, it is something worth pursuing.
There were opportunities to interact with the other students and the speakers to discuss what we'd
heard during the day. There were so many inspiring messages that have stayed with us and I hope
that we too, can overcome any adversity to contribute to the world in the way these inspiring role
models have.

Last Friday evening, our gorgeous Year 10 dancers performed their Contemporary class piece in
the Extreme Dance Challenge. They competed against 22 other High Schools from across NSW in a
section of an extremely high standard. Despite not winning a prize this time, I was so impressed with
the girls' performance both on and off stage. They demonstrated professionalism and commitment
beyond their years and worked beautifully as an ensemble - supporting and encouraging each
other. This attitude certainly made braving the cold and stormy whether on a Friday night worth it!
On stage, the students performed with sincerity and expression and were commended for the
emotion portrayed throughout the piece. I'm so proud of each and every one of our dancers and I
look forward to seeing this group continue to develop as an ensemble.
A big thank you and congratulations to the following students:

THEATRE SPORTS
Congratulations to our Intermediate team who placed 3rd in the Semi Finals of The Theatre Sports
Challenge at St Andrew’s Cathedral School on Tuesday night. Eight teams competed on the night,
all the best of their different Sydney Regional heats. It was a night of quality improvisation and our
team missed out by 1 point in going through to the Grand Final – only 2 schools get to go through.
The schools competing in the Semi Finals included St Andrew’s, St Aloysius, Riverview St Ignatius,
Monte, PLC, St Patricks and Shore.
The Reddam players were certainly stand outs and many commented on the quality of our players
and their detail and deployment on stage. They performed an improvised Broadway Musical, a
Word at a Time Story, an Open Scene and a 2-minute Alphabet scene. Well done all on an impres-
sive line-up of scenes and a great season!
