Continuous Action is organisation witch unites people interested in voluntary service, cultural exchanges, lifelong learning and equal opportunities. The aim of our activity in and through Continuous Action is to enable the possibility of lifelong learning and to act within the boundaries of equal opportunities irrespective of gender, social status, economic situation, knowledge, education or age. In order to achieve the aims and tackle the obstacles, we develop and implement initiatives, projects and diverse actions at local and international level. Give up your free time for a worthwhile cause and have free access to 2 major British Festivals. Every year the Leeds Festival and Beacon Festival attract thousands of music lovers. Keeping the site environmentally friendly is a huge challenge that the Green Messengers try to manage. You will work as part of the Green Messenger team. This volunteering experience will give you the chance to have access to these festivals for free. So if you love music and don’t mind getting your hands dirty, this project is for you! What about the Festival? Leeds festival is one of the major annual events in the UK attracting around 80,000 people every year. Beacons is a smaller more exclusive event with around 3,000 attendees. Being a part of the festivals is an amazing experience. This year at Beacons will be Django Django, Bonobo and Solange (Beyoncé’s sister). At Leeds, Eminem, Greenday, Biffy Clyro, System of a Down and Nine Inch Nails will be performing. Both festivals have hundreds of other artists across several stages. What will I do? As a Green Messenger you will work to promote recycling, collect cans & plastic bottles and salvage good quality, re-usable camping equipment that has been left in the campsites which will be shared amongst to charity and community organisations. How long is the project? This is a 16 day project of which you will work at least 10 days at the festivals. You will also have some free time when you can explore the local cities as well as enjoy the entertainment at the event. How much will it cost? This experience is funded by the European Commission and the British Council. We will arrange and pay 90% of your travel (you will have to pay 10%). The food will be provided and you will have some pocket money. We will also provide you with a tent. How to apply? If you are 18+ , full of energy, you don’t mind getting your hands dirty and you have a passion for recycling, contact us as soon as possible, to express your interest: [email protected] For more information visit the official BLOG: http://thegreenmessagetofestivals.blogspot.co.uk Recycling & Festival: 2 week volunteering in the UK
