GET CONNECTEDWe encourage you to support RecWell with a gift of your time, talents, or a contribution. We enjoy hearing what our alums are doing and invite you to share your stories and updates with us. And if you are in the Twin Cities, stop by De-velopment Office in the new University Recreation and Wellness Center and see how we have grown.

GIVE TO RECREATION AND WELLNESSThe financial commitment our students make to RecWell through student fees have histori-cally made our programs an operational success. However, it is the much needed private philan-thropy from our alumni and friends that will make our programs better by easing the expense on stu-dents. For more information on how to give to Recre-ation and Wellness, visit our Alumni website online or contact RecWell Alumni Relations at 612.624.8657.

If you participated in any of our programs or worked for the department, we are proud to call you one of our own. We hope to re-connect with you through our energy packed alumni events, trips and campus gatherings.

RecWell focuses on providing its students with many development skills including leadership, time management, organizational skills, multi-tasking, communication, interpersonal relationships, and self confidence. Out-of-classroom experiences that students had while in college are among the most remembered throughout their post-collegiate years. It is the goal of RecWell to not only provide these experiences to our University community, but to fur-ther encourage students (future alumni) to maintain healthy life-styles through a lifetime of sports and recreational activities.

ABOUT OUR ALUMNIResearch at the University of Minnesota and other national research studies confirm that students who are involved in out-of-classroom experiences in their college careers, particularly those involved in University Recreation and Wellness:

• have higher grade point averages• have higher graduation and retention rates• are more socially integrated into the campus community• feel better about their overall collegiate experiences than those students who are not involved in recreational sports

And how are today’s U of M students spending their time away from studies and work? Student participation during the last academic school year confirmed some very healthy numbers:

• 12,400+ participated in IM sports• 1,100+ participated in Sport Clubs• 50,000+ participated in Fitness programs• 15,000+ participated in use of the climbing and bouldering wall• 70,000+ participated in Aquatic programs and events
