This 3-years position is aimed at a young researcher (man or woman), who appreciates a multidisciplinary work combining fundamental research and industrial applications. The successful candidate will take part to the partnership research work of his/her team and contribute to industrial and economic innovation. He/She will also have the opportunity of defining a PhD subject during his/her first year at centre for mathematical morphology (CMM), that he/she will supervise together with a senior member of the team who is officially accredited for such a task. The position is to evolve into a permanent lecturer and researcher work within 3 years in the framework of a Tenure Track procedure. A description of the process is available on MINES ParisTech website: http://www.minesparistech.fr/Ecole/Recrutement/Travailler-a-MINES-ParisTech/ 1. THE RESEARCH AT MINES ParisTech In line with its training activity, MINES ParisTech develops a research activity that covers a wide range of scientific disciplines. The eighteen research centers are organized in 5 departments: Earth and Environmental Sciences, Energy and Processes, Mechanics and Materials, Mathematics and Systems, and finally, Economics, Management and Society. MINES ParisTech's research aims at both academic excellence and socio-economic impact. This oriented research model is developed in close interaction with the socio-economic world : private or public sector companies, but also institutions and public administrations. MINES ParisTech is the first school in France by its volume of research on contracts, carried by Armines, the Mines ParisTech Foundation or MINES ParisTech. This original positioning allowed the School to expand its teams (by recruiting researchers on an open-ended contract with its own resources via the Armines contract research association) and allows it to maintain its long-term Unique experimental and digital platforms whose quality is recognized by its partners. This ability of MINES ParisTech and companies to work together on ambitious scientific and industrial issues is recognized nationally and internationally: the CNRS silver medal awarded to Madeleine Akrich, two ANR industrial chairs, The renewal of the Carnot label in 2016 (MESR), MINES ParisTech at the 23rd place in the QS World University Rankings by subject and in the top 100, 150 and 300 of the Shanghai engineering thematic rankings. 2. MINES PARISTECH CENTER FOR MATHEMATICAL MORPHOLOGY The vacancy to be filled is located at the Centre for Mathematical Morphology (http://cmm.mines-paristech.fr/) that currently has a staff of 10 permanent scientists and 15 Ph.D. students and post-docs. The CMM was created in 1968 by G. Matheron and J. Serra with the aim of developing the foundations of mathematical morphology and its applications in image processing and analysis, computer vision and physics of heterogeneous media. The fields of application focus on biological and medical imaging, quantitative microscopy, physics of heterogeneous media, inspection of defects, 2D, 3D, 3D+t scene analysis, multimedia applications, satellite image and remote sensing, etc.
