This gives me immense pleasure in sending this invitation to all prospective Companies, Institutions and Organizations to get in touch with the placement cell and explore the possibilities of hiring quality workforce. To give you some idea, this department was established in 1993 with approval from All India Council for Technical Education and has contributed immensely to the country’s manpower requirement in the field of Management. The department focuses upon one flagship program which is MBA and has 5 full time faculty on rolls with lots of visiting faculty. Aside from this the department also offers Doctoral Program leading to the award of Ph.D. degree.

At present we are offering major specializations in the streams of Marketing, finance and Human Resource Management with four papers in each major area to cater to the variegated demands of the students and industry. The students are trained not only in terms of conceptual parameters but are also exposed to a variety of teaching pedagogies such as presentations, simulations and case discussions which helps them to imbibe the ability to think on feet, generate original ideas and grounded in group dynamics.

The Companies who have hired our students have reported generally high level of satisfaction in terms of behaviour, conduct and overall performance. They have especially appreciated positive attitudes, sincerity and commitment of our students to name a few.

The Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University, Ajmer is a comparatively young

University of the country which came into existence on 1 P

stP August, 1987. Ever since its

inception the University has for the last 23 years never settled for a slow pace – it has

steadily and successfully m arched on the road to development attaining several

milestones during its

journey of growth and

progress. There has

been an astonishing

growth in the

University infrastrucure

which includes

magnificent buildings,

Hi-Tech Science

Laboratories, a state-of-art Computer Centre, a prestigious Library, an

Administrative and Examination Block, a Science and Management Block and a highly

impressive Vice Chacellor’s Secretariat. There has been a simultanous increase in the

number of affiliated colleges and the academic scenario has reached new

horizons.There are promising job oriented

courses and intensive research oriented

programs. There are also Self

Financing Courses in

several teaching

Departments. The

University was accredited as

B++ by the Naitonal

Assessment and Accreditation

Council (NAAC), bangalore in 2004. The University is

now in the process of reaccreditation by the NAAC. The University Library is unique

and the first time in state sully automated since 2003. Having technical and financial

support of the UGC’s INFLIBNET Center, Ahmedabad.



The C-Net Center, EDU-SAT, Campus wide networking using OFC 6 Core are all a

reflection of the emphasis of the

University to the fact that gaining

knowledge can no longer be

restricted to the four walls of any

institution. There is always scope to

explore research and discover while

sailing through the process of

gaining education.

The teaching departments and centers of learning at the University

campus include Botany, Commerce, Computer Science, Economics, Education,

Environmental Science, Food Science & Nutrition, History, Journalism, Law, Library

and Information Science, Management Studies, Microbiology, Political Science,

Population Studies, Pure & Applied Chemistry, Remote Sensing and Geoinformatics,

Sanskrit, Yogic Sciences and Human Consciousness, Zoology and Center for Private

Colleges affiliated to this University, which are spread over 9 districts of the state of

Rajasthan. The Univesity conducted examinations of approximately 2,10,000 students

for various courses during the 2010-2011 session.



The largest business department in the state of Rajasthan is now about 15 years old.

Having created a niche in areas of teaching and research of services, the department

aims to equip students with intellectual background to enable them to undertake a

successful career with requisite inputs of business studies. Programmes of study aim at

producing level headed manager for entry-level positions.

Exchange of information is vital to the good health of any body of

knowledge. Understanding this fully well the department engages in a good number of

extension activities including seminars, workshops and training programmes. Faculty is

also engaged with extension programme for various government and private agencies.

The department employs

modern teaching pedagogy that

includes case studies, role-plays,

projects, seminars,

presentations, etc. along with

latest teaching technologies. The

teaching is organized in newly

constructed Vikramaditya

Bhawan. The classrooms and

lecture rooms have modern

looking furniture and furnishings.

Library Facilities: The library has an around 20,000 titles and subscribes to around 4-dozen business journals. Department also has a book bank that caters to the immediate needs of the management students. The university has planned computerized library management.

Computing Facilities

The University has a separate center for computer applications that support teaching

and training of computing. Department also has a computer center of its own.



Learning Process

Learning is the most cherished value amongst teachers and students of the

department. The nuances of business are simulated thru rigorous activity based learning

and co curricular activities.

Activity based learning: Students are encouraged to work on real life projects under

the close supervision of faculty. This allows them an exposure to business panning and

decision-making.

Personality Development Program (PDP): Special efforts are made towards

personality development of the students by motivating them to participate in various co

curricular activities viz., debates, presentations, quizzes, management games,

simulations, role plays, in-basket activities.

Case Method of Study: Case method of teaching and analyzing business situations is

popular in faculty. Case developed by faculty and that available in other publications

are frequently used.

Guest lectures: Eminent speakers from all walks of life are regularly invited to share

their experiences with students and faculty members.

Seminars and Workshops: Students are encouraged to participate in seminars,

workshops at various fora to gain knowledge, interact with experts and make their own

presentations. Department also organizes regular seminars on contemporary

management issues.

Industrial Visits: Through industrial tours and visits students are exposed to business

settings and working.

Projects and Dissertation: Students have to submit a summer training project after I

year and carry out a dissertorial project towards the end of their MBA program.

Community work: As a part of the mission the student are trained to be level headed

managers who can relate to ground realities and identify with problems of the society.

Students under the guidance of faculty participate in community work and NSS

activities.



Ph.D. Program

The Department offers a PhD programme. Presently the

research in the department focuses on services,

entrepreneurship and small business, and international

business. Department has an intake capacity of about 24

positions for the research.

The Master of Business Administration (MBA) Program

This programme of the Department is made up of distinct but complementary groups

that recognize the interrelationship between, and the high degree of synergy within, the

disciplines of Economics, Psychology, Behavioural Sciences,

Quantitative methods and Business. Student can chose electives from

amongst Marketing, Finance and Human Resource Management. The

course is positioned at providing level headed managers for the

industry. Admission to the 60 seats of the programme is on the basis of

an all India level entrance test RMAT.

Researches & Projects

The Department is equipped with necessary computing and

reference facilities to support research in various trades of business

management. A limited financial support is available on a competitive

basis to the research scholars. Presently the faculty of the department is

managing a major project titled “Building Social Capital through

Microfinance in India with special reference to Rajasthan State”

funded by University Grants Commission, New Delhi. Also a project

previously worked upon titled “Evaluating Service Quality” also

funded by UGC too. Research was being pursued on “ISO 9000: 2000-

Challenges and opportunities for Services Companies” as a part of

AICTE’s Career Award for Young Teachers. Department is also

negotiating some other projects with various other funding agencies.

Core Faculty Profiles

Dr. (Prof.) Manoj Kumar HOD & Dean, FMS, Ajmer (MBA,Kurukshetra University) Business Strategy and Marketing Management, IMC, GM & SM Prof. Manoj Kumar has a vast teaching experience of more than 25 yrs. He has worked as Asst. Professor at Institute of Management Studies, Bikaner; MLS University, Udaipur and Nirma Institute of Management, Ahemdabad and as Professor at Singhad Institute of Business & Research, Pune. He has completed a very high level Faculty Development Program at IIM, Ahemdabad also. He has worked as Deputy-Director in a UGC Sponsored study titled “Organization and Methods Study of University Administration”. Also worked as Asst. Coordinator in a research conducted by National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), Higher Education Unit, New Delhi on “Profile of Selected Universities.” Along with these researches he has completed a UGC Research Project, “Issues and Perspectives in Industry–Institute Interaction with special reference to Management Education in India.” Also he has published & delivered 18 papers on various researches and studies at USA, Italy and in India and organized various seminars. 2 books has already been published by him. He is currently a honorary member of Advisory Board, Institute of Entrepreneurship, Mumbai and CESBM, Ajmer and Journal of Management & public Policy. Has provided active guidance to several dozen MBA students towards their dissertation program in such diverse areas as Channel Surfing Behavior, Media Watching Habits, Diffusion of Cellular Phones, Internet advertising etc. Also various students got Ph.D degree under his guidance.

Dr. Shiv Prasad (on lien) Associate Professor, FMS, Ajmer (M.Com, M.A., M.B.A., D.E.F.T. & F.E., D.S.A. & P.D., BJMC, MJMC, ICWA, CS) Accounting & Financial Management

Dr. Shiv Prasad is one of the most senior and experienced part of FMS, Ajmer with more than 13 yrs. of experience. He has achieved a lot of higher educational & Professional degrees. He has wrote a book titled “Lekha Shashtra” approved by Board of Secondary Education, Rajasthan. He has attended various UGC Refresher Training Programmes in Business Administration, Management, Banking and Business Economics and Management Challenges in Post Liberalisation Era.

There are more than 10 articles on various topics has already been published by him. He has presented various papers in various conferences and seminars. He has developed various cases at IIM, Ahmedabad and Prestige Institute of Management, Gwalior.

Has provided active guidance to several dozen MBA students towards their dissertation program in MBA. He is a registered Ph.D. guide/supervisor in management.



Dr. Deepika Upadhyaya Assistant Professor, FMS, Ajmer (M.B.A.) Entrepreneurship and Human Resource Development Dr. Deepika Upadhyaya is one of the most experienced faculty of Faculty of Management Studies, Ajmer having teaching experience of more than 13 yrs. She is the senior most faculty of Human Resource Management. Her Area of interest is Human Resource development and Entrepreneurship. She also teaches the students of BBA and M Phil (Commerce).

She has attended various national level conferences. She has attended the Faculty Development program at IIM, Ahmedabad also. She is a registered guide for Ph.D students. About 5 students has already been completed their Ph.D under her guidance. She is also working on a HR Project. She is also the Asst. Director of Center for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management, Ajmer.

Dr. Ashish Pareek Assistant Professor, FMS, Ajmer (M.B.A.) Entrepreneurship and Marketing Management Dr. Pareek has about 4 yrs. Experience of work with Pepsico India and more than 8 yrs. Experience of teaching. He is involved with a UGC project “Evaluating Service Quality” of Approx. Rs. 4 Lakhs. He has worked for about 4 publications on various topics. He has attended various national level conferences. He has been attended the Faculty Development program at IIM, Ahmedabad. He has been awarded with fellowship for Research Methodology workshop at IIM, Indore. He was a part of a programme on Data Analysis in Social Sciences (Sponsored by ICSSR-New Delhi) at Tata Institute of Social Science (TISS), Mumbai. He also attended a UGC sponsored Refresher in Indian Economy and Banking. Along with this he has attended Faculty Development Program at IIM Ahmedabad. He is also working as Dy. Director of Center for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management, Ajmer. Along with this various papers has been published by Dr. Pareek. Currently he is working on an International Research Project.
