Recreating Your GroupWise Mailing Lists in Outlook Client All the contacts and Mailing Lists (aka Mailing Groups or Distribution lists) from your GroupWise account will be migrated to your JagMail account. However, these Mailing Lists cannot be automatically transferred to your Outlook profile. You can re-create them in Outlook from scratch or use the directions below to semi-automate the process.

Migrating from GroupWise to JagMail

Let’s say you have a Mailing List “Donors2012” in your GroupWise account as shown in the image below.

To simplify the example, we put only 5 members in that list.

2 When you open your Contacts in JagMail after the migration, you will see the Mailing List “Donors2012” in the left panel of your Contacts window and if you select this group, you will see the same 5 members, as shown below.

Exporting JagMail contacts

4. Be careful! You probably do not want to export your entire contact list. You can choose which contacts to export -- all contacts, only one group, or a particular selection in the next window.

5. Select the format in which you'd like to export your contacts' information. Please note, in transition from one mail system to another, some of these formats can lose some contact details.

o To transfer contacts between Google accounts, use the Google CSV format. This is also the recommended way to back up your Google Contacts.

o To transfer contacts to Outlook, Yahoo! Mail, Hotmail, or various other apps, use the Outlook CSV format.

o To transfer contacts to Apple Address Book, use the vCard format.

6. Click Export. 7. Choose Save to Disk then click OK. 8. Select a location to save your file, and click OK.

Import Contacts to Outlook

When you are ready to import your contacts to Outlook, you may simply import the individual contacts and allow these to merge to your full list of contacts or you may create a separate “folder” where these contacts will reside. This will allow you to see the contacts as a group where you can address to individuals easily.

Using this method, you may also decide to create a Contact Group where you can add all the selected contacts. We will walk through the steps required to create a folder containing a group of contacts and a Contact Group.

4 Create a contact folder

First login to Outlook and open your contacts.

Follow these steps to create your folder as the container for holding your contacts. This would be similar to creating an Address Book in GroupWise:

1. Click on one of the existing folders in your contacts. In the example I have selected the folder for “Contacts.”

2. Right Click and select New Folder.

3. Type name of folder to be created (for example, Donors2012).

4. Scroll in your folder list to the appropriate location where the new folder should be added. I would add this new folder as a sub-folder under “Contacts” and click OK.

5. Soon you will see your new folder in the list under My Contacts.
