What is the Early Years Foundation Stage ( E.Y.F.S)?
The E.Y.F.S. is the stage of education for children from birth tothe end of the Reception year. It is based on the recognition that children learn best through play and active learning.

All P.E items will have the school logo on them in the colour of your child’s house (red, blue, green, yellow) you will find out your child’s house on Tuesday 23rd
All PE kit can be ordered through Bromley school wear & Tesco online
Children across the whole school will come in PE kit on PE days (you will find this day out in September)

All reception children starting school must also have
•St Mark’s water bottle – these can be bought from the main office•St Mark’s red book bag•Red hat – this can be left at school all year
Other Uniform
Starting School
All the children will start school on a part-time basis. This allows staff to get to know each child personally.
Individual start times – this allows the teacher to meet and greet your child and show them where to put their belongings.
My Child’s first day
Group One – will start on the Thursday 3rd September and not come to school on the Friday
Group Two – will start on the Friday 4th September (Group Two will not come to school on Thursday)
This information will be written on a letter that will be handed out on Tuesday 23rd June
Induction
Monday 7th September – Thursday 10th September
Mornings 8:55 – 12:00
Friday 11th September – Tuesday 15th September
Mornings and Lunch8:55 – 1:20pm
Wednesday 16th September –

All children are treated as individuals – if your child is not ready to stay at any of these
points they will not have too.
Parent Teacher meeting
We will be holding a parent teacher meetings on Friday 11th, Monday 14th and Tuesday 15th September
There will be a sign up sheet outside your classroom for you to choose a time on your first day at school.
These will be a 10 minute appointment for you to talk to your class teacher and begin to build a working partnership.
Worship and Class Prayers
We have class prayers every day and when we are ready we join the rest of the school for worship.
What can you do to help your child’s learning when they begin school?
• Sharing books, talking about the pictures.• Encourage mark making, name writing, shopping lists
etc.• Encourage children to talk in full sentences.• Practise counting at any time- climbing the stairs,
shopping etc• Play simple board games.• Sing number rhymes and songs together.• Support any homework that comes home, sounds and
number work• Encourgae your child to be independent
The First Few Days ...There can be a lot to remember in the first few days, but
please do not worry as your child will quickly be teaching you the routines!

• Please let us know if someone different is collecting your child! Ensure they have your families Password
• Parent Helpers always welcome – Must fill in a DBSMedical • Any sickness, diarrhoea, must be followed by 48 hours absence
following the last bout.• Head lice are common! Please check regularly and treat as
recommended• Any absence requires a telephone call or email to the school office by
9:00am• If your child is not at school and you have not called or emailed a phone
call will be made to find out where your child is • Any prescribed medication can only be administered by arrangement
with the school office and upon completion of appropriate documentation
• No non prescription medication will be given

This will advise you of your eligibility, you can apply on line or get a form from the school office; we will be happy to help you with your application on line.
This is important as the pupil premium money allows school to take on additional staff, invest in equipment, resources and activities to benefit all children.
