    Location Recce

    Potential Locations

    - Description

    Photograph of the

    location

    Google Map (Identify the

    precise location)

    Is it suitable (think

    about genre,

    narrative, research

    youve undertaken)

    how? Why?

    Subway- This is one

    of the main

    locations I need for

    my film opening. I

    need the tunnel

    and also around it.

    I think the location

    is very suitable for

    my film. The area

    itself is very

    unsettling and could

    be used to make a

    creepy atmosphere.

    Also when it gets

    dark the lights

    create a very eerie

    mood.

    Access Issues

The location is easy to access when on foot and is not far from crew members houses if weneed to be there for any reason.

There are also car parking spaces not far from the location so that is not a problem. Access for equipment would be easy and mobile phone signal is good.

    Lighting Issues

When it gets dark, lighting is very dark. The dark lighting creates a useful effect however. Difficult to work in such dark environment.

    Sound Issues (If applicable)

Noise of overhead traffic is apparent. Near local pedestrian areas. Wind and other environmental sounds

    Evaluate all the hazards ticked.

    Hazard: Audience/Public

    What could cause harm?

The general public could interfere and cause problems with shooting.

What is the likelihood of this happening?

The likelihood of this is fairly low but it is still plausible.

    How much harm?

There would be little harm, but the filming may suffer.

Apply the following priorities, how will this risk be managed (provide detail)?

    (1) Eliminate. (2) Reduce or substitute (3) Isolate. (4) Control. (5) Personal protective equipment

We could use control and substitutions to choose upon the best filming times.

    Hazard: Noise

    What could cause harm?

The background noise could cause problems for us filming there.

What is the likelihood of this happening?

The likelihood of this happening is fairly reasonable.

    How much harm?

Apply the following priorities, how will this risk be managed (provide detail)?

(1)Eliminate. (2) Reduce or substitute (3) Isolate. (4) Control. (5) Personal protective equipment

We will use substitution and control to film at the location at times where is less likely to be these problems.

    Hazard: Slipping, Tripping, Falling

    What could cause harm?

Injury to the crew or damage to equipment.

What is the likelihood of this happening?

It is fairly low but not impossible.

    How much harm?

It is likely to be minimal but could be more serious.

Apply the following priorities, how will this risk be managed (provide detail)?

    (1) Eliminate. (2) Reduce or substitute (3) Isolate. (4) Control. (5) Personal protective equipmentWe shall use appropriate protective equipment including clothing and isolate off any particularly dangerous zones.
