Why Romans made Sculptures 1 reason Romans created sculpture is because they wanted to symbolise what they saw and they wanted to show perfection about their art and their vision. They liked to do things in a lot of detail and wanted to be as precise as they can. They showed this by making sculptures and pieces of art relating to someone or something, an example of this is the picture of the sculpture on the right. This Roman sculpture is characterized by its realism and its wart. As you can see the Roman who created this sculpture tried as accurately as he could have to get everything to detail such as the wrinkles, the eye brow shape, the hair and the skin texture. Another reason Romans created sculptures in because they admired human form and admired. Many Roman sculptures symbolised and showed people with no clothes on. This is because they liked the form of human body and they thought the human body was very inspiring and important as they believed the Gods and Goddesses had human bodies and looked like people with human characteristics. The picture shows that the sculpture was representing someone very manly and strong looking and the man is also naked. This shows that the Romans must have admired the strong looking physique and they were not embarrassed to show it. The Romans looked up to their ancestors and Gods and Goddesses and wanted to show them as strong and fearless so the best way of doing this is by showing them off without clothes, they may have been trying to show their Gods and Goddesses through making sculpture. Romans looked up to Greeks even though they battled and had kept Greeks as slaves but because Greeks were very good with art and made very good naked sculpture of Gods and Goddesses the Romans adapted their culture and art to also look like Greek art so they also started creating sculpture because they thought Greeks were very Irbaaz Syed
