Staff ReporterPort Blair, Feb. 21 Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakaram (JSSK) isan initiative to provide completely free andcashless services to pregnant women includingnormal deliveries and caesarean operations andsick new born (up to 1 year after birth) inGovernment health institutions in both rural &urban areas. The Ministry of Health and FamilyWelfare (MoHFW), GoI launched JSSK on 1stJune, 2011 in view of the difficulty being facedby the pregnant women and parents of sick new-born along-with high out of pocket expensesincurred by them on delivery and treatment of sicknewborn. The scheme is to benefit pregnant womenwho access Government health facilities for their delivery.Moreover, it will motivate those who still choose to deliver attheir homes to opt for institutional deliveries. Realizing vision of 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' through
implementation of PMEGP scheme in A&N Islands2242 units generating 5730 employment set up under PMEGP so far
205 projects sanctioned by banks for current financial year
embraced the scheme, making it the most viableoption for starting up self ventures and earninglivelihood. So far, 2242 units generating 5730 employmenthave been set up by availing the benefits ofPMEGP. Special emphasis has been given towomen, Scheduled Tribes, OBC, PhysicallyHandicapped and ex-servicemen under thescheme. In order to simplify the process underthe scheme, the Ministry of MSME, GoI hasdiscontinued the system of selection ofbeneficiaries and recommendations of proposals/ applications by the DLTFC to streamline the
process of selection and expedite the flow ofapplications under PMEGP scheme. Accordingly,from this financial year onwards, the ProgrammeImplementing Agencies viz. ANIKVIB & DIC areforwarding applications directly to the financingbanks for credit decision after preliminaryscrutiny and examining the personal and factualdetails mentioned in the application includingproject report etc. The details of the simplificationin the PMEGP guidelines have already beenpublished in print & electronic media for its widerreach. In addition, the details of the probableactivities which could be financed under PMEGP
scheme have also beenpublished for theknowledge of generalpublic and aspiringentrepreneurs from theIslands. Further, to mobilizemore and more youth tobecome Atmanirbhar, theIndustries Departmentunder the guidance ofSecretary (Industries) is
taking various steps includingdisseminating information onPMEGP and ventures available underthe programme at PRI level. In order to provide clarifications, clear doubts and information on PMEGP 'phonein programmes' were organized by All India Radio in the current Financial Year2020-2021. As such 45 awareness campaigns and People's Education programmeson PMEGP were organized at different Islands through which the first generationentrepreneurs were appraised about the benefits available under PMEGP scheme.Apart from this, interested beneficiaries were guided for preparation of projectreport and online submission of loan proposals under the captioned scheme. As against the target of 96 units proposed to be financed under the PMEGPScheme for the current financial year 2020-21, and on constant review at the level ofSecretary (Industries) altogether 412 projects were sponsored to different scheduledcommercial financing banks till 12/02/2021. Out of these, 412 sponsored cases, 205projects have already been sanctioned by banks of which 101 projects have beenfinanced with a total financial involvement of Rs. 448.64 lakh as total project cost.Out of these 101 financed cases, margin money subsidy of Rs. 103.29 lakh havebeen released in favour of 89 projects with an anticipated employment generationof 205 persons by these units. The progress is being reviewed with the all the banksat the level of Secretary (Industries), a press release from Directorate ofIndustries said.

Accordingly, a case U/s 22 (C) of NDPS Act 1985 has beenregistered against the accused. The entire raid took place under the Supervision ofShri Kalaivanan R, SDPO (Bambooflat). In another incident, PS Hutbay team arrested one accused namely Biman Paul S/oShri Bimal Paul, (34Yrs) residing at R.K. Pur, Little Andaman with 630 grams ofmethamphetamine from his garden. A case U/s 22 (C) of NDPS Act 1985 has beenregistered against the accused. The entire raid took place under the Supervision ofShri Abishek Gupta, SDPO (Swaraj Dweep). It is to mention here that these drugs got washed to the shores of the Islands from theMyanmarese vessel which was intercepted by the Indian Coast Guard in 2019.Possessing this deadly drug is a serious offence punishable with rigorous imprisonmentfor a term of 10 to 20 years. Till date from the interception of the Myanmarese vessels,a total of 537 kg 163 gms of methamphetamine has been recovered from the shores andthrough registration of NDPS Act cases against those trying to sell this drug. Meanwhile, the general public have been requested to share information pertainingto any crime or other illegal activities to police at 112, 03192-232100 & 03192-233077.The identity of the informant will be kept secret, a press release from SPSA said.
