•Shrinking technician pool– 15 % of technician population will be of
retirement age in the next 5 to 10 years– Younger generation does not see the
career opportunities as a technician
•Technology is changing at a rapid pace– Computer and diagnostic skills are
needed as much or more than mechanical skills
