    Answers

    1. Of course you can play basketball. Earl Boykins is only 1.65 metres tall but he is a

professional basketball player, with experience in the NBA and at Virtus Bologna.

    2. Yes, they can. Male weightlifters get big muscles for two reasons:

    1. They lift very heavy weights.

    2. They have got large amounts of the male hormone testosterone in their bodies.

But women havent got much testosterone, so they cant usually develop very big

muscles like men. Lifting light weights doesnt give women big muscles, only strong ones.

    3. Yes, it is. In fact, race walking is an Olympic sport. Race walkers walk very quickly, but

regular walking is good for you, too. You can change your life with just 30 minutes of

walking a day, and you dont need expensive equipment to do it!

    4. No, it isnt. Actually, the meaning of the word judo is the gentle way. To win a judo

match, an athlete must throw his or her opponent onto the floor or hold the opponent

on the floor. But the athlete mustnt hit or kick the opponent during the match.

Meet Danica Patrick from the USA. Danica is the first woman to win an Indy carrace one of the top races in the world. Danica loves her profession and sheworks very hard. Have a look at the work of a professional racing car driver.

You must have very strong arm muscles tocontrol a racing car, so drivers usually liftweights. They also do hundreds of stomachexercises. Stomach muscles help drivers stayin their seats when the car is moving very fast.

Racing cars turn very quickly on the racetrack. Driversmust have strong neck muscles so they can hold up theirheads when they turn their car. Some drivers wear helmetswith weights at home to make their neck muscles strong.Imagine watching TV with a heavy helmet on your head!

There are many cars on the racetrack. A driver must get infront of the other cars to win a race. Drivers must look atthe track very quickly to find a place without cars. Racingcar drivers often use computer games like ForzaMotorsport 2 and Gran Turismo 5 to practise doing this.

It looks quite easy to stop the car with thebrakes, but its like moving 130 kilos ofweights with your feet! You cant do thiswithout very strong leg muscles, so racingcar drivers run or go cycling. DanicaPatrick runs for an hour every day.
