General Information ‐ The course was originally conceived as a technical urban course. Something similar to a prologue at a 

grand tour run over an increasing number of laps as the day progressed. During the process it became evident that the typical TT course presents the least number of challenges for organizer and municipality.  

‐ Thanks to the efforts of the traffic and special event department of the Region of Durham, the Town of Whitby and the Town of Pickering as well as the Durham Regional Police Service we are hoping to provide an opportunity for those who love the race of truth to get out and have an opportunity to race. 

‐ Two distances will be available to participants of all license categories. O‐Cup Points will be awarded for the 17 km distance to Master Women, M3 and M2 men, Juniour Men and Women . The 34km distance will be the O‐Cup standard for Elite Men and Women and M1 men. The rationale is that the distance will closely approximate the distance at Nationals and is in no way meant to marginalize a participant’s ability.  

 

Registration Information ‐ Registration schedule registration will be available on line through the OCA until Thursday Mayt 29th at 

11:59 pm. There will be no day of registration to allow for proper organization of the start list. ‐ Riders must be licensed by the OCA to participate. One day permits will be available on line for the 

17km Sportif. There will be no one day permits at registration. ‐ Start times will be posted between the close of registration and 11:59 pm Friday May 30th. ‐ Sign in will open at 7:30 am on race day. ‐ In addition to the timing chip a number will be affixed to the back of the jersey according to the 

diagram below

Course Safety ‐ Michael Mandel is the Medical Liason 41‐618‐2533 ‐ First Aid will be handled at the Start finish if the person in need is ambulatory or on course as provided 

by Medical Staff ‐ Maps to Lakeridge Oshawea and Rouge Valley Ajax Hospitals Below 

  

  

‐ Traffic will be managed with the assistance of the Durham Regional Police. The roads will still be open to traffic but intersections will be marshaled for the safety of riders.  

‐ In case of lightning, the race may be delayed or cancelled. If you are informed that the race has been stopped due to lightning, you are advised to seek shelter until the race can resume.  

‐ For your safety, if you withdraw from the event for any reason, you must inform the nearest Commissaire that you are no longer racing. Any unreported DNF may result in a severe penalty. 

‐ You are required to wear an approved, regulation cycling helmet at all times while astride your bike, from the moment you arrive at the race until you leave. Non‐compliance may result in a severe penalty

General Event Rules and Regulations  

The races will be held under the rules of the UCI with CCA and OCA modifications.

The penalty scale of the OCA rulebook will be applicable.  

Registration closes 15 minutes before the start of each race.  

This event is pre‐registration only.  

All riders must sign on at registration.  

U.S riders must present a UCI licence in order to enter this event. USAC Domestic Licences are not allowed in Canada 

All foreign licensed riders other than U.S. riders must produce a letter of permission from their country’s federation.  

An OCA representative will be present at the race to assist with rider licensing issues. Citizen Permits and Citizen Permit Upgrades must be obtained from the OCA prior to race day. There are no plans to sell UCI licences on race day. Please contact the OCA for more details.  

All riders (or parents/guardians) are required to sign the OCA and CCA waivers, unless they have an OCA‐issued licence.  

Races will start promptly at the indicated start times.  

There will not be a team managers meeting.  

There will not be any team vehicles permitted on the course.  

Any rider dropping out of the race shall immediately notify a commissaire.  

Riders who are dropped from the main bunch must proceed at their own risk and should always, when possible, ride on the right side of the road with the flow of traffic.  

The prize list will be displayed at registration. Additional primes may be announced on the start line.  

Awards will be presented according to the published schedule. Top‐3 finishers are required to attend award presentations or risk forfeiting their awards. Riders must wear their competition uniforms for the presentation.  

      

Specific Course Rules   If your bicycle does not meet the regulations for time trial specifications after being checked, you may 

choose to either adjust your bicycle and have it rechecked, start your race non‐compliant and receive a time with an automatic DQ, or elect to drop down to the Sportif category. 

If you arrive late for your start time, you will be allowed to start your race, at the direction of the Commissaire only. Your time will be counted from your original time, minus any time the Commissaire asks you to wait. 

If a rider catches up to another, they are strictly forbidden from drafting behind the lead rider. Riders must remain at least 2m laterally between each other during passing, which starts 25m before on the approach, and 25m afterwards. Failure to do so may result in a time penalty.

 You must attend the awards ceremonies in order to receive your prizes. If you receive a prize for a position below 3rd, you may be asked to attend the podium ceremonies  Top‐3 finishers are required to attend award presentations or they may be assessed a penalty. Riders must wear their competition uniforms for the presentation.  Additional prizes will be announced closer to the day of competition and based on participation.
