ITINERARY: Barcelona is one of themost beautiful and vibrant cities of Spain and this c lassictour gives you a quick overview of its main highlights. Ex-plore Plaza de Cataluna, Via Laietana, the Cathedral andits cloister, Gothic Quarter, Plaza Sant Jaume (Generalitatand Town Hall). You will continue on to the Villa Olimpica(athletes residential complex during the Olympics) and thePort Olympic (Olimpic harbor).Afterwards you will ascendMontjüic Mountain, which offers a panoramic view of thecity and harbor. Tour the Olympic Stadium, Palau Sant Jordiand Calatrava Tower. Visit the Poble Espanyol (Spanish Village) which reproduces the most typical regional archi-tectural styles in Spain. ITINERARY: After driving through picturesquelittle villages you will arrive at the incomparable setting ofthe mountain of Montserrat, which rises majestically to4,051 feet (1,235 meters). Next visit the Royal Basilica ofMontserrat, which holds the famous 12th century Ro-manesque carving of Virgen Moreneta, the Black Virgin. TheRoyal Basilica has been one of the most important pilgrim-age sites in Spain for hundreds of years. On some days thechildren’s choir sings in the monastery at midday, and soyou may be fortunate enough to catch one of their delightfulperformances. Overnight.

DAY 1.- BARCELONA:Arrival to Barcelona, where you’ll be picked up by the trans-ferist who will take you to the Catalonia AtenasHotel****. DAY 2.- BARCELONA:After having breakfast, our guide will meet you at your hotel topick you up to start a private half day walking tour withtransfer which includes the Gothic district and Las Ramblas. ticket costs around €1. • A glass of beer costs between € 2 and

€ 6, the latter at a fashionable place. • A ticket to the cinema costs between

€ 6 and € 9. • A ticket to the theatre costs between

€ 15 and € 40.

• A ticket to the opera or a concertcould cost between €55 and €110.

A breakfast special, including a cup ofcoffee, a bun or pastry, and a glass ofjuice costs between € 3 and € 6, de-pending on where you go. A daily special at an inexpensiverestaurant costs between € 10 and € 15.If you are choosing from the regularmenu, the price starts at € 18, while ata medium-priced restaurant, it wouldstart at € 36 per person. Time, schedules and publicholidaysBreakfast is usually had from eight toten in the morning. Lunch, at restau-rants, is served between 13.00 to 15.30h. Dinner is served from 20.30 to 23.00h. Many establishments are open con-tinuously throughout the day, especiallybars and cafeterias; there you can have“tapas”, appetisers, and combo meals.Cinemas usually have flexible hours,starting around 16.30 to 17.00 h. Big shopping centres and depart-ment stores open from 10.00 h to21.00 or 22.00 h uninterruptedly.These big stores open sometimes onSunday. In coastal cities, in high season,

shops are usually open passed 22.00 h.Pharmacies open from 9.30 to 13.30 h,and from 16.30 to 20.00 h. In all majorcities you can find pharmacies thatopen 24 hours. Pharmacies follow arolling late-hour schedule, which ispublished in the newspapers, and isposted at all pharmacies.

HotelsHotels, under normal conditions, willhold room reservations until 6:00 PMon the scheduled date of arrival. If, forany reason you will have a late arrival,it is suggested you call the hotel aheadof time and advise the Front Desk staffof your late arrival.When checking into a hotel you willoften be asked to provide a credit cardto pay for eventual incidental charges,such as telephone calls, room service, inroom movies, mini-bar, etc.Many city hotels charge a parking fee,which you have to pay directly to thehotel. Driving tipsBe sure to familiarize yourself with thelaws in Spain before departure. Mostimportant is to drive defensively andnever assume anything.For your safety and by law it is requiredthat you wear seat belts at all timeswhile driving, even if you are sitting inthe back seats.Observe posted speed limits. Highwaysare often patrolled by “radar” andsometimes even by plane or helicopter.Speeding fines are expensive.
