Torrenstitleisasystemoflandregistration,inwhicharegisteroflandholdingsmaintainedbythestateguaranteesanindefeasibletitletothoseincludedintheregister.Landownershipistransferredthroughregistrationoftitleinsteadofusingdeeds.

TorrensTitle:Asystemoflandtitleunderwhichastate-maintainedregisteroflandholdingsguaranteesindefeasibleownershipofinterestsinland.Thesystemiscontrastedwitholdsystemtitle,whichdependsonproofofunbrokenchainoftitlebacktoagoodrootoftitleorevenbacktotheCrowngrantoftheland.TheTorrenssystemtakesitsnamefromitsallegedinventor–SirRobertTorrens.–LexisNexisLegaldictionary
