ALL-NEW TWINGOFresh thinking = huge fun in a small package.

ALL-NEW TRAFICIntroducing Renault’s amazing new LCV.

NEW MASTERThe new panel van that’smade-to-measure.

WELCOME INSIDE

You need the right tool for the job – it’s a maxim thatany successful business, large or small, needs to live by. Andat Renault this summer, we’re helping to supply you with awider range of tools for your jobs than ever before with thelaunch of some genuinely innovative vehicles.

Take the All-New Trafic van for example: it’s a brilliantlyclever commercial with smart carrying ability, such as thebulkhead flap which allows longer objects to be slid under theseats, as well as four new twin turbocharged and downsizedengines offering enhanced fuel consumption withoutcompromising power.

We also know that businesses have to be increasinglyconnected with their employees out on the road, so the newTrafic even comes tablet cradles, seatback tables andRenault’s R-Link multimedia system.

At the other end of the size scale, we introduce a new carthat has the industry buzzing with excitement. The All-NewTwingo has its economical little three-cylinder enginepositioned under the boot floor to give the car more interiorspace, despite its compact length, and yet carrying capacityis still impressively large.

Both All-New Trafic and All-New Twingo illustrate thatRenault is starting with clean sheets of paper when it comesto thinking about the needs of our customers, and if theirrequirements need inventive new engineering solutions, thenwe’ll do it.

Just like another of your business maxims no doubt, to getahead we like to think outside the box.

WHAT’S NEW?

Renault has achieved an automotive industryfirst, delivering on its 2011 promise of a 10%

reduction in its 2010 carbon footprint by the end of 2013.The landmark forms part of ongoing plans to achieve

3% reductions in its carbon footprint per year between2010 and 2016, in line with its global sales forecasts. This involves improvements across all business lines andemployees to curb the environmental impact of itsactivities and vehicles.

A substantial 85% of the Group’s carbon footprintcomes from the on-road lifecycle of its vehicles, including 10% from producing and distributing the fuelwhich goes into them, so improvements to economyhave been vital. In Europe, the Energy range of petrol anddiesel engines, and a 37% share of the electric vehiclemarket, resulted in industry-leading average CO2

emissions of 114.8g/km during 2013, with more to come.Beyond the vehicles themselves, Renault now uses an

average 30% recycledmaterials in productionof new vehicles, andenergy usage duringthe manufacturingprocess and at its facilitiesis under close scrutiny. A growing14.1% of electricity is now sourced fromrenewable sources, with 20% as a target by 2016, andmeasures such as efficient new IT equipment, whichstaff are told to switch off outside hours, and efforts tominimise professional travel are deliveringimprovements here too.

Although the plan is only half complete, savings aresubstantial. Renault has reduced its carbon footprint by5.5 million tonnes; equivalent to the annual CO2

emissions of 600,000 Europeans, or the combinedpopulation of Bristol and Southampton.

IN BRIEF

NEW MODELS DRIVE CONTINUED UK GROWTH

The innovative Renault ZOE has become the first electric vehicle to leadthe Virgin Money London Marathon, as part of the carmaker’s role as Official

Car Provider for the 2014 event. Attracting thousands of runners each year, the event has raised over £600m for

good causes since its inception in 1981, and gave Renault airtime on televisionscreens in nearly 200 countries worldwide.

ZOE’s lack of tailpipe emissions made it the ideal car to lead entrants on the 26.2-mile course, which runs from Blackheath, Greenwich, past many of the capital’s mosticonic landmarks and finishes on The Mall in Westminster. Renault’s small car rangewas also represented by Captur, with the stylish crossover used by the Race Director.

A fleet of 16 Grand Scenics were also deployed, used as VIP transport and to checkthe course ahead of the runners, while Renault also provided two specially adaptedMaster vans for use by the media, each sporting roof-mounted digital race clocks.

115 YEARS OF INNOVATION

Performance Renaults of past and presentonce again wowed the crowds at the 2014

Goodwood Festival of Speed, the UK’s biggestmotoring event with 180,000 attendees.

The packwas completed by the Formula E Spark-RenaultSRT_01E, the first electric vehicle ever to behomologated by the FIA.

Renault’s motorsport success has a direct linkto the latest engines found in its road cars. Thisyear’s Festival marked the UK debut of the lighter, more powerful Mégane Renaultsport 275 Trophy-R, which took on the hillclimb at the hands ofLaurent Hurgon, fresh from the duo’s front-wheeldrive record-setting lap of the NürburgringNordschleife in Germany. The brand also showed direct links between itsconcept cars and their production counterpartswith an eye-catching static display. This includedthe first UK appearance of New Twingo, alongsidethe Twin’Run concept shown as a preview lastyear, while Captur and Clio were shown alongsidetheir respective show cars.

TWIZY GOES RURAL

CASE STUDY

16 17

Toro, a Renault Twizy which hasbeen adapted for rough surfaces, has

begun an eight-week trial on the InnerHebridean Isle of Eigg, where it will thevehicle’s suitability for use in rural areas.

The collaborative project is run by the EcoTravel Network (ETN), which has a fleet of 11 ofthe futuristic quadricycles for hire in the BreconBeacons National Park, working with EdinburghCollege and the Eigg Box, an eco-workspacewhich opened on the island last year.

Adapted by Redcastle Classics in Caerphilly,Toro features 60mm of extra ground clearance, square block rally tyres and suspensionadapted to maintain contact with the groundon rough tracks. Racks for luggage and bikes

are also designed to carry heavy loads, including barrels of diesel, from Eigg’s ferry pierto inhabitants’ houses.

At five miles in length, Eigg poses noproblems for Twizy’s electric range of between31 and 50 miles, and the island’s electricitysupply is 100% renewable, sourced from wind, hydro and solar power, maximising theenvironmental benefits of switching toelectromobility.

Once the trial is complete, Toro will beused to promote ETN’s activities in theBrecon Beacons, where it was tested afterfollowing the conversion. In addition to itsTwizy rental fleet, the company is establishinga charging network with 40 rural businesses

in Powys, covering a 240-mile route. Ian Foster, founding director of the Eco

Travel Network, said this could also informfurther Twizy-based projects: ‘We do haveconcepts already for a number of otherconversions that we would like to experimentwith based on Twizy. They all address realneeds in a rural area; the key is simple wellengineered solutions.

‘The lightweight fully-electric class of vehiclefitted with our ethos and aims for ETN, toprovide an energy efficient method of movingvisitors and local people around in a rural area. The support offered by the Renault ZE teamand our dealer Callow Marsh was also a keyfactor in us deciding to work with Twizy.’

READY4WORKCalling all trades. Renault has

developed a high-quality rackingsolution that can be installed intoa customer’s van before delivery, providing a van that is ready to

go straight to work.

Ready4Work has been developed in partnershipwith vehicle storage specialist Bri-Stor and has

been designed to cover the majority of small businessand trades requirements for in-van storage. There aretwo types of shelving solution available and the systemswill be available across the entire Renault LCV range, starting with All-New Trafic.

The two racking solutions consist of lightweight, highstrength racking with a two-part anti-slip phenolic coatedfloor and a 10mm plywood base. System 1 includes loadand crash tested extruded aluminium floor rails provide

maximum strength and there is no requirement to drillinto the van’s structure, an important consideration toprevent corrosion and maintain residual values.

Brackets connect the storage solutions to the van’sexisting load lashing points and the racking ismanufactured from high strength Dual-Phase steel, whichis both lighter and stronger than normal mild steels.

The second Specialist Storage System adds atelescopic drawer unit with three 500mm wide drawersand a shelf to the standard racking. Both solutions willcarry the same four-year/100,000 mile warranty as all

DACIA

A sign that Dacia’s ‘shockingly affordable’ approach to motoringhas struck a chord in the UK, the 25,000th savvy customer

collected the keys to their new Sandero Stepway in June, just 18months after the brand’s launch.

Tackling the established mainstream head on, Dacia has had noproblem finding homes with British buyers since the first cars wereregistered in January 2013. Designed to offer high flexibility, lowrunning costs and excellent value for money across both the range andoptions list, there’s no shortage of Brits who have ‘done the maths’ anddiscovered how the brand’s fresh approach can save them money.

But don’t just take our word for it. Dacia was the second fastest-growing brand in terms of market share for the first six months of 2014,up 0.4 percentage points year on year to take 1% of the total market. That’s an 85.6% increase compared to the same period of 2013 and, with only eight months between the 10,000th and 25,000thUK registration, sales are continuing to accelerate.

Company car drivers who want to reduce their fuel consumption can use the Eco Drivingfunction standard in all Renaults fitted with R-Link to improve the way they drive.

AND FINALLY...

HOW R-LINK CAN MAKE YOURDRIVERS 325% MORE EFFICIENT

The system cleverly monitors driving style, ratingacceleration, gearchanges and anticipation and gives an overall

rating out of 100 for each trip. Judging how hard and late drivers brake, how many revs they use and how heavy they are on the throttle, thefeedback can then be used to be lighter on the controls and save fuel.

Handily, it gives a full readout at the end of each journey of MPG,distance, time and the amount of time when the car has not been usingfuel – such coasting down hills and off-throttle – with each trip able to besaved in a folder. As a result the driver can compare regular journeys suchas commutes and work routes to see if they are improving over time.

Also, the system will offer eco driving tips, highlighting driving stylesthat will improve efficiency. Using the system, drivers could improvetheir fuel economy by as much as 25%.
