Manual Errata################################################################################Because we continued to polish & balance the game after the manual wassent for printing, the following items in the manual are incorrect:- The Flamer (one of the floating eyes from the Plaguelords race) was renamed to the "Eye of Flame". Apparently Flamer is a slang term in the USA.- The manual shows an option for "Animated Water" on the options screen. The game does not contain animated water, and the option has been replaced with an option to turn "Floating Text" messages (the ones that appear above troops in the game) On or Off.- The manual shows a number of setup options for Random Maps. The option to have 0,1,2,3 or 4 Temples has been replaced with the option to have 0,1,2,3 or 4 Utility Buildings (where Utility Buildings are simply a mixture of Temples, Lairs & Shops).- The build tree for the Dark Elves fails to list the Imp - he can be built at the Kargothian Gate- Awe and Fear no longer cause a reduction in speed################################################################################4. File Structure################################################################################To be compliant with the standards set in Windows XP, no user-created data is stored in the Installation directory of the game. All files are located in the "My Documents\Warlords Battlecry III" folder, accessible from your desktop. To be consistent, this behavior has been applied not only to our XP installations, but to all versions, right back to Windows 98 SE.These files will be unaffected by installing or uninstalling the game. For purposes of backup, your heroes can be found in "My Documents\Warlords Battlecry III\HeroData.xcrAny music themes you create for the game should be placed into "My Documents\Warlords Battlecry III\Music"Any Customized AI's you obtain for the game should be placed into "My Documents\Warlords Battlecry III\CustomAI"Any new Attitudes you obtain for the game should be placed into "My Documents\Warlords Battlecry III\CustomUnitAI"Saved games can be found in the following folder "My Documents\Warlords Battlecry III\Saved Games"Screen Captures (obtained via the F9 key while playing the game) can be found in the following folder "My Documents\Warlords Battlecry III"They will be named Screen01.bmp, Screen02.bmp, etc...################################################################################5. Known ProblemsThe following problems have been observed in the Warlords Battlecry III:Q. When I change my sound settings I get a horrible ringing noise, how do I stop it?A. This problem has only been reported under Windows XP. It involves a problem in the EAX sound drivers for certain Soundblaster Live sound cards. To fix the problem, you should set EAX to in the sound menu of the Options screen.Q. How do I run the game without music?A. You should alter the game's shortcut as follows: a) Right Click on the game's shortcut icon on your desktop b) Select "Properties" from the menu c) In the "Target" field, add " NOMUSIC" (don't forget the space at the start) d) Click "Okay"Q. How do I run the game without any sound at all?A. You should alter the game's shortcut as follows: a) Right Click on the game's shortcut icon on your desktop b) Select "Properties" from the menu c) In the "Target" field, add " NOSOUND" (don't forget the space at the start) d) Click "Okay"This NOSOUND option will disable all sound and music in the game.Q. I want to backup my heroes... where is my hero data stored?A. All heroes are stored in "My Documents\Warlords Battlecry III\HeroData.xcr"Q. I want to reinstall the game, but I don't want to lose my heroes. What do I do?A. Uninstall the old game first. It is always better to install fresh, rather than over a previous version. The uninstaller will ask you if you want toremove your heroes and saved games. You should answer NO.Then all you need do is install the new game - your heroes will still be there.Pursuant with the standards set by Windows XP, all data is stored in a subdirectory of the "My Documents" folder, so it is not affected by installing the game.Q. Why can't I build buildings on the far left side of the map?A. The game was designed to have a visual boundary on the left side. This is not a bug. Q. My main Keep is destroyed and I destroy one of my own resource points; this results in my resources being reset to below a 1000 resources. What's happening?A. Do not destroy your own resource point if you have just lost your main building or this may result in some resource loss. Q. Some of my spells aren't working. Why?A. Firstly, make sure that your hero is not carrying a lot of items with spellcastingpenalties. These will cause his spells to fail more often. Secondly, make surethat the spells are not one of Banish, Rot, Mutate or Strip Flesh; these spellswill only work on lower-level opponents (i.e. troops with 1 or 2 medals) until yougain a higher level of skill in the requisite spell sphere.################################################################################6.
