What you should know when asking for a

Letter of Recommendation

A “LeEer of RecommendaAon” from your parish priest or deacon is a liEle different than a

leEer of recommendaAon from your coach, professor or employer.

A leEer of recommendaAon from the Catholic Church means that your priest or deacon is

verifying that he knows that you aEend mass each Sunday and therefore you are a

“pracAcing Catholic.” This is based on our firm belief that the Mass – the EucharisAc Liturgy -

is the primary prayer of the church and that faithful Catholic ChrisAans are grateful for the

opportunity to celebrate God’s presence each Sunday at Mass as God reveals himself in the

readings from the Sacred Scripture, the Eucharist and the community.

More simply put, how can someone “sponsor” a baby who is becoming a member of the

Catholic Church when the Godparent is not a pracAcing member of the Catholic

Community?

Catholic ChrisAans who aEend mass each Sunday (unless, of course, they are sick in bed) are

eligible to receive a LeEer of RecommendaAon to be a Godparent for BapAsm or a Sponsor

for ConfirmaAon. Please take this into consideraAon when asking someone to be your

child’s God parent or sponsor.

SINGLE SENIORS

Because of the good response, we have scheduled the first

meeAng of our newly forming “Single Seniors” group. Those

interested will gather TODAY, Sunday, June 23 at 1:00 PM in

seniors is welcomed to aEend this first planning meeAng.

QuesAons can be directed to Fr. Bob Perelli at 858-279-2735.

ALZHEIMER’S SUPPORT GROUP

Because of the number of people who expressed an interest,

we will be starAng an Alzheimer’s support group in

family member experiencing demenAa is welcome to

love and deeds to empower the weak, the defenseless, and

those with out a voice. Thank you for your generosity.

The ChrisAan Community of Ascension Catholic church
