Hello, my name is Caroline Busher, I’m ‘Reader in Residence’ with Wexford Public Library Service. This is an initiative developed by Wexford Library Services for children and parents to explore shared literacy and reading activities. I look forward to meeting you at ‘Reading Together’, a children’s storytelling festival that will run during the month of February in all Wexford libraries. This exciting programme is for pre-school children and their families.

Shine Bright Theatre turns the genre of classic story tales on its head. Join a host of quirky characters that are on a search to find out what’s up with their rebelious princess. She doesn’t fit the mould, what does it mean to be a princess in the 21st Century? Trouble is brewing and this Princess is not going to take it anymore! About Shine Bright Theatre Shine Bright Theatre offers Creative Drama classes to Primary Schools and Pre-Schools around the South East. My drama classes in schools are energetic, educational, creative, imaginative and most importantly fun for the children. They are a great opportunity for children to explore their imaginations, grow in confidence, learn team-work skills and act with confidence. Classes are structured to suit each age group. Drama class topics include role play, improvisations, voice work, drama exercises, mime, storytelling, puppets, stage-craft, script work, drama games and much more.

About the Workshop Come along and learn a bit about the process behind illustrating children’s books. This workshop will involve a professional illustrator explaining their process, and then doing some live drawing. After that it’s time for everyone to start drawing their own characters, to help create one giant book cover!Workshop facilitated by artist Shona Shirley Macdonald, illustrator of ‘The Moon Spun Round’ by W. B. Yeats. About Shona Shirley Mac Donald Shona is a Scottish artist based in Co. Waterford. Having specialised in stop-motion animation at Edinburgh College of Art, she now works as an illustrator. Her most recent publication is ‘The Moon Spun Round’, a collection of poetry by W. B. Yeats, aimed at children. Published by the O Brien Press.

As well as undertaking commissioned illustration, she exhibits her work and her solo show ‘Juniper’ has been widely shown throughout Ireland. She is also the director of design company Mireog, and for this creates unique greeting cards and t-shirts in Irish and other Celtic languages.

About the Workshop

Join Melissa Doran for an exciting nature themed valentine card making workshop. Children will design love heart shaped valentine cards decorate them with drawings of wild animals and trees and flowers. About Melissa Doran Melissa Doran works in Dublin as an illustrator. The natural world inspires her work and she uses a combination of hand-drawing and digital collage to create her drawings. She also teaches digital illustration and runs art workshops for children and adults. She is the illustrator of Naturama.

About the Workshop

Join illustrator Philip Barrett for a giant ‘Where’s Larry?’ inspired doodle! Larry the Leprechaun is always adventuring around Ireland and loves hiding in some of the country’s most famous tourist spots. Children aged 3+ are invited to help Philip draw a whole host of funny characters to disguise Larry and his family of leprechauns so that grown-ups will have to look very very hard if they want to find him! About Philip Barrett Philip Barrett is an illustrator, designer and comic artist originally from Co. Donegal and currently based in Galway. In 2012 he illustrated the O’Brien press children’s book best seller ‘Where’s Larry?’ and in 2016 illustrated the follow-up ‘Where’s Larry This Time?’. His illustrations and comics have appeared in publications as diverse as the Irish Times and Rabble.

Philip also specialises in live-drawing and has provided illustrated reports at events for Google, TEDx Dublin, the National Museum of Ireland and the Dublin Writers Festival among others.

About the Workshop

Jane invites younger children and their families to her creative workshop, an evolving city of card-board and other recycled materials, a playful space where family design and make ‘a room of their

own’, cutting, sticking, exploring. What space would you like to live in? A jungle room? A house full of clouds? Each child will be provided with a cardboard box to create a 3D living space in our growing city

and then take away later.

Artist Jane Groves creates site specific installations and stage sets across Ireland, she has been working with children for over 10 years, from early years to teenagers and their fam-

ilies with the Design and Craft council of Ireland, St Patricks Festival, Recreate, Creative Classrooms DLR, the Ark and many more. Janes approach is flexible adaptable and child

Beauty & the Beast a classic tale which is always there of not judging people by their differences, and what happens when Beauty’s daddy loses everything, who will Beauty meet! A chance to see Julie-Roses collection of puppets from around the world. Create your own bat or butterfly puppet to take home! About Julie-Rose Mc Cormick Julie-Rose has been performing puppet shows which she has designed and created for 28 years, nationwide and abroad performing also in International puppet festivals in Ireland. In productions of Gulliver winner of best show Casablanca 91’, Gilgamesh and Fanto-cinni. Pakistan, Morroco, Belgium, Slovenia, Portugal and Turkey. Molly and Leopold Bloom Giant puppets winner of best representation of characters , blooms day 93. She has worked with the Abbey, The Ark and Project and in community theatre and schools and on hospital projects. Performing at The Victoria & Albert Museum in a a production of the ‘ Floating Beacon ‘ using historic marionettes from the museum collection.

About Caroline Busher

Caroline graduated with a First Class Honours MA in Creative Writing from UCD. She is an Irish Times best selling author with Poolbeg Press and is represented by

Trace Literary Agency (USA). Her highly anticipated debut novel The Ghosts of Mag-nificent Children was released in October 2016. She is the reciepent of many awards,

including; shortlisted for the Bord Gais Energy Book Club/TV3 Short Story Award (2013); longlisted for the Penguin Ireland Short Story Competition (2015). The Ghosts

of Magnificent Children was recently selected for Dublin Airport Authority / Fingal County Council Battle of the Book. She has appeared at Dublin Book Festival and Ennis

Book Club Festival, and is vice chair of Wexford Literary Festival. Her forthcoming novel The Girl Who Ate The Stars will be released in May (2017), published by Poolbeg Press.

About the Workshop

Enhance your child’s development and love of music through song, dance, movement games and instru-ments. With an array of musical styles, the workshops will help children explore the power of rhythm, melody, tonality and beat while nurturing key physical, social and intellectual skills. About Darina Gleeson Darina Gleeson is the owner of the franchise Gymboree South Wexford in which she has been running for the past two years. Darina is well known among the children of Wexford from visiting playschools, toddler groups and holding public classes.

Darina graduated in 2013 with a First Class Honours in Bachelor of Music Degree in Performance from DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama. Darina has been a teacher for many years, which has resulted in her gaining experience in not just an individual setting but teaching as a group setting such as ensembles.

Darina is sister of Elaine Gleeson and together they manage Gleeson School of Music. An experienced performer, Darina has performed in, The National Concert Hall, The O2 Arena, Vicar Street and Temple Bar Trad Festival, and of broadcasts for RTÉ Radio and Radio na Gaeltachta. Darina has toured many parts of the world performing with DIT, The Three B’s and also with the group Cirrus in China and India and America.

About the Workshop

Teach your child a love of music in an hour of interactive fun through songs, dance, movement fun and musical instruments! Suitable for all babies, toddlers and pre-school children from 6months to 4years (plus a little younger and a lot older!!) We use colourful props and musical instruments specifically made for little hands - toys that teach! Every activity in our class has a developmental benefit from the building blocks of rhythm and music to simple melodies and tonal patterns to hand eye co-ordination of popping bubbles! About the Workshop

ABC + 123 Illustrate - If you can draw a 3, you can draw a bunny! Come play with how to make pictures out of letters and numbers. This workshop is suitable for any child who likes to draw. Lead by Illustra-tors Ireland member and illustrator of Pigín of Howth, Margaret Anne Suggs. About Born and raised in the deep South, Margaret Anne Suggs moved to Dublin to complete her Master’s at the NCAD. Currently, Margaret Anne is the Promotions Officer for Illustrators Ireland but when she is not illustrating, she is lecturing at BCFE where she founded the Illustration course. Her latest books are Pigín of Howth (Gill) and Cuppa Tea (Clavis). Margaret Anne Suggs is Illustrator of the Bord Gais Energy Award winning book “The Pigin of Howth” written by Kathleen Watkins.
