Teacher directionsThese review sheets provide students with an opportunity to reviewand reiterate the important Common Core standards associated with
informational text.
The pack includes a total of 5 informational mini-passages with fourstandards based skill questions. Each skill is presented in two formats:multiple choice and open-ended. You can have students do one or bothof each activity! These short, easy-to-implement quick checks aregreat for morning bell work or a quick end of the day review. I have
also included a single sheet for all 4 multiple choice questions for useas a formative assessment tool, in case this is your preference.
To implement, photocopy the pages youd like to use. Have studentsread the passage, and respond to the question(s), supporting theiranswer with specific textual evidence. Review in small groups, or as awhole class, to maximize student learning.
Standards included:
CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RI.3.2 Determine the main idea of a text;recount the key details and explain how they support the mainidea.
CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RI.3.1 Ask and answer questions todemonstrate understanding of a text, referring explicitly to thetext as the basis for the answers.
CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RI.3.4 Determine the meaning of generalacademic and domain-specific words and phrases in a textrelevant to a grade 3 topic or subject area.
CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RI.3.8 Describe the logical connection betweenparticular sentences and paragraphs in a text (e.g., comparison,cause/effect, first/second/third in a sequence).
