Encik Azmi, the minimarket owner
Encik Azmi owns a minimarket in town. He has five workers
working for him. He sells
grocery. There are all kinds of tinned food, rice, flour and
drinks being sold in the minimarket.Many customers walk into the
minimarket to buy things. Some telephone Encik Azmi and place
orders. Azmis worker delivers the grocery by van. Encik Azmi is
a successful businessman and
he gives good salaries to his workers.
A Fire
Last night, I saw a house on fire. I heard shouts of fire! fire!
I quickly telephoned the Fire
Department to tell them about the fire. I then rushed over to
the burning house to help people
move their belongings.
Soon, the firemen arrived. They used hose to shoot water at the
burning house. Within minutes
the fire was stopped from spreading. Although the house was
burnt, people were saved. The
firemen prevented the fire from spreading to the other houses.
The people were grateful and they
thanked the firemen and the people who came to help.
Ostriches
Ostriches live in the savannah which is an open, grassy and
sandy area. They do not live in areas
like the desert because they prefer to stay close to places
which have water. The ostrich is a
large bird. It has a long featherless neck with a small flat
head and large eyes. The legs are long
with two toes in each leg.
The ostrich cannot fly because it is too heavy and has small
wings. But it can run very fast
almost as fast as a horse. When an ostrich runs, it flaps its
wings. Ostriches are very greedy.
They feed on plants and small insects. Once, a dead ostrichs
stomach was found to contain
coins, two bunches of keys and buttons!
Many people think that the ostrich is a silly animal because it
buries its head in the sand when
there is danger. When it hears the enemy approaching, the
ostrich will run away.

The family of Bees
Have you ever seen bees at work? If you have, you will have
noticed that they fly from flower to
flower. They suck a sweet liquid called nectar from the flowers.
The nectar is kept in the
beehive and it is changed into honey.
Bees are like human beings in many ways. We have families and do
not live alone. So do bees.
They live with other bees in a big family. In our community, we
have different people doing
different jobs. This is also the same with bees.
There are three kinds of bees in a hive. They are the queen bee,
the drones and the worker bees.
The queen bee is the most important member in the team. She is
the head of the bee family. Her
main job is to lay eggs. The drones are male bees. They do not
work. The worker bees attend to
all the work. They build their homes on trees or in the hollow
of trees. They collect nectar from
flowers and feed the queen bee. They look after the young ones
and protect the hive from
enemies.
The Dog and The Bone
Once upon a time, there was a dog which stole a large deer bone
from a butchers shop. While
the dog was crossing a bridge, it accidentally saw its
reflection in the water. It thought that was
another dog holding a large deer bone in its mouth.
Being a greedy dog, it jumped into the stream to snatch the
other dogs bone. When it barked to
frighten the other dog, the bone dropped into the stream.
Although the dog hunted all over, it
could not find the bone.
