ESPAÑOL INGLÉSHola Hello / Hi
Buenos días Good morningBuenas tardes Good evening/afternoonBuenas noches Good night
Adiós Good bye/byeHasta luego See you laterHasta pronto See you soon
¡Ten un buen día! Have a nice day!¿Qué tal?, ¿Cómo estás? How are you?
Bien, gracias Fine, thank youMuy bien, genial Great
Bien GoodMuy bien Very good
De maravilla, excelente TerrificMás o menos, así así So so
No muy bien Not goodMal Bad
Mr Smith and .Mrs SmithMiss Murphy.
- Messrs.Mrs. – MesdamesMiss – MissesMs. - Mses. or Mss.
Good morning, madam!¡Adiós, señor!
Por ejemplo: This lady/ That gentleman (Esta señora/ Ese señor)
Cardinal numbers:
1.10Inglés para Principiantes (A1).
Welcome to the English World!
Sólo tienes que aprender: 20, 30, 40, 50, 60,…(twenty, thirty…) y despuésañadirle –one, -two…

The grammar is very important to learn a language. It is necessary to learnsome grammatical rules to improve a language. In this topic we will learn how to express the age, to use the verb “to be born…”, the personal pronouns, and the verb “To be”. Then we will practice doingexercises.
Let’s start!---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Welcome to the English World!
E.g.
I am at the university.
Estoy en la universidad.
We are in Spain.
Estamos en España.
They are happy.
Welcome to the English World!1.13
1.4.2 To Be (ser/estar)
Welcome to the English World!
The age
En inglés para preguntar por la edad de alguien siempre empezamos lapregunta con How old? y continuamos la pregunta utilizando el verbo “to be”más un sujeto.
Por ejemplo:
A. How old are you?
Que significa ¿Cuántos años tienes?
En español para preguntar la edad utilizamos el verbo tener, que en inglés es“to have”.
Por eso, un error frecuente que debemos evitar es utilizar el verbo to have
Inglés para Principiantes (A1).
Welcome to the English World!1.15
I have five. XI am five. √
En la respuesta se utiliza también el verbo to be:I’m x years old o I’m x.Que significa: Tengo x años o Tengo x.Otro ejemplo:
A: How old are you?B: I’m fifteen years old/ I’m fifteen
A: ¿Cuántos años tienes?B: Tengo 15 años /Tengo 15La edad
RECUERDA…
En inglés y en español no coincide exactamente la estructura para preguntar laedad, ya que la traducción literal al español de HOW OLD ARE YOU? Sería“¿Cómo de viejo eres?”, y la de I’m fifteen years old sería “Soy 15 años viejo”.Por eso, un error frecuente que debemos evitar es utilizar el verbo HAVE (tener)para decir la edad. Se utiliza, como ya hemos visto, el verbo TO BE (ser o estar).
1.4.4 I was born…(nací)
Utilizamos el verbo to be born (nacer) cuando hablamos de nuestro nacimiento, fecha o lugar. Significa nacer.
I was born in Dublin.Nací en Londres.
Iwas born in 1978Nací en 1978.
