Radius Selection Chart

R&D Bandsaws specializes in bandsaw blades made to order. Coilstock

is available if you prefer to make your own blades (the Sure-Splice Kit

will help make this job easier). For maximum strength and rigidity, we

recommend using the widest bandsaw blade possible. For example,

when cutting a curve with a 2" radius, a 3/8" blade would be the best

choice (see our Radius Selection Chart).

Blade Speed

The blade speed for cutting metal is much slower than the blade speed for cutting wood. Wood cutting blade

speed is between 2000 and 4000 FPM. Non-ferrous metal cutting blade speed is between 700 and 1000

FPM. Metal cutting blade speed is between 85 and 200 FPM. To calculate blade speed: Motor RPM x Pulley

divided by Upper Wheel Pulley x Wheel Diameter x 3.1416 divided by 12 = LFPM. You can also calculate

blade speed by marking the wheel, turning the motor one revolution, measuring the distance from the mark

and multiplying by the motor RPM.

Weld Guarantee

R&D Bandsaws guarantees the blade weld. If a blade breaks at the weld, return it by mail to R&D Bandsaws

and it will be repaired and returned at no charge. This guarantee does not apply to blades under 71” in length

or 3-wheel blades. The return shipping cost will be the responsibility of the customer. The customer will not

be refunded for the return shipping cost.

How to Calculate Blade Price

Multiply the blade length by the price per inch. For the length, always round up to the closest half inch. For

example when ordering a Carbon blade 93 1/2" long by 1/4" wide, multiply 93.5 x 14¢ (price per inch) for a

total of $13.09. When ordering blades please indicate the type of machine (2 or 3 wheel), blade length,

width, tooth style and TPI (teeth per inch).

Industrial Silicon

The Industrial Silicon band has three to four times the blade life of a normal carbon band. This band is made

with tungsten silicon chrome alloy added to carbon steel. This gives the blade a harder tooth and the ability

to withstand higher temperatures before they are effected by heat. It requires less tension to cut straight. All

blades have milled teeth to give them a uniform tooth and a much sharper tooth, which means a smoother

finish. The best choice for resawing is the 1/2" x 3TPI. This blade performs like a much wider blade using

only half as much power; therefore, this is ideal for a saw with less than 1 HP.

Swedish Silicon

The Swedish Silicon band has three to four times the blade life of a normal carbon band. They have a five

tooth pattern with minimal set. Every fifth tooth is a straight raker, with a 6.5º hook angle that gives it an

incredible fast cut and smooth finish.

Little Ripper Blade

When resawing or cutting straight, we recommend our Little Ripper

Blade. This 5/8”x.025”x3TPI or 4TPI high tungsten impregnated silicon

blade will make the cut cleaner and faster than a regular bandsaw

blade. Extra hard, stays sharp and cuts straight. It is extra wide to add

stiffness to the blade, has a thin kerf and cuts extremely smooth. Price

Furniture Band (Carver & Woodturner Band)

With a .032” blade thickness, this blade has increased beam strength,

Sure-Splice Kit

This simple jig will position bandsaw blades for silver soldering so you can make and repair your own blades.

It uses high strength silver solder which means that no expensive welding equipment is needed. All that is

required is a propane torch, file or grinder and coilstock to make the blades. Adjustable for blade widths from

1/16" to 1-1/4". Includes plans for a blade-grinding jig that will make it easy to grind accurate bevels on the

blade. The Sure-Splice Kit contains the Sure-Splice jig, solder and flux for about 30 blades. The Refill Kit

contains enough solder for approximately 150 small splices.

Anti-Vibration Link Belt

1/2” wide, super flexible drive belt greatly reduces the transfer of

vibration with all woodworking machines. Unlike a rubber belt, which

will take the shape of the small diameter pulleys that are used on most

Toggle Safety Switch

If you own stationary woodworking machines, odds are at least one of

them has this switch on it. Are you having trouble with it? Sometimes

it takes a second click of the switch to get the tool to start? You’re not

alone. They are a great little switch but they were not designed to last

forever. By popular request, we’ve brought this one into stock. It’s a

double pole double throw switch rated 19 amps at 125 volt and 12 amps

Circle Jig Kit

This jig provides the only sure way of cutting perfect circles with fewer

underside tearout. Precision milled blades with wide spaced, ultra sharp

teeth for fast, accurate cuts in hard and soft woods. Widely spaced

Crown Tooth

Unique tooth design allows the blade to cut on both the up and down

stroke. Cuts a little slower for more control, useful in delicate fretwork. Finish

is smooth with clean, sharp, splinter-free edges in hard/soft wood, plywood,

plastic and Corian®. Two-way cutting action prevents melting behind

Skip Tooth

Skip tooth blades are available in a wide range. For hand or machine

sawing of wood, plastic, and fibrous materials. Skip tooth blades cut

fast, provide good chip clearance and smooth finishes.

For Cutting Metal: Skip Tooth Scroll Saw Blades may out-perform metal

cutting or jewelers piercing scroll saw blades in cutting metal. Any Skip

Tooth blade up through a Univ# 5 will cut metal but Univ# 3/0 to Univ# 2

is preferred for inside cuts and marquetry panels. Skip Tooth blades can

Spiral

Spiral Tooth blades saw in all directions with 360º cutting capability. Excellent

for 0º radius scroll/fret work you never have to turn the workpiece. For

cutting wood, plastic, wax, non-ferrous metals, plaster, bone, horn,

etc. (Note: You can use spiral blades on non-ferrous metals but Skip

Sanding Mop Kit

The Sanding Mop is great for routered edges and general purpose profile

sanding. Includes 48 strips of sandpaper, one mandrel, five spacers

and two stabilizers. Available in 80, 120, 180 ,220, & 320 grit. When

ordering two grits, keep in mind that the most popular combination is

120 and 220 grit. They are a superior mixture for use on both hardwoods

80 grit: Very aggressive. Best used for rough hardwood, furniture stripping,
