JOY TO THE WORLD ….WHAT A WONDERFUL CAROLS BY

CANDLEIGHT

Barring the showers of Blessings, which came both in the morn-

ing hours during set up and during the show, there can be no

doubt that this year’s CAROLS BY CANDLIGHT was fantas1c and

enjoyed by all patrons. Kudos to the members of the Club who

came and helped in any

way; we worked hard,

we worked well. Ser-

vice above self always.

The mee1ng on December 8 was a fellowship mee1ng and

began with the pinning of two new members of the Rotary

Club of Barbados—Rtn. Malcolm Vaughn and Rtn. Crispen

Hacke>.

Rtn. Malcolm was introduced to the Club by Director Win-

ston Warren and his classifica=on is Business Services –

Safety and Tac=cal Gear. He is the founder of Elements Es-

sen=als Inc. a company that supplies safety and tac=cal gear

and is also a�ached to the Barbados Coast Guard holding

numerous posts such as electrical engineer, diver and rescue

swimmer. He has received several commenda=ons including

the Meritorious Service Medal. For service during the Glen-

dairy Prison Riots 2001.

Rtn. Chrispen was introduced to the Club by Director Neal

Griffith and is a Past President of the UWI Rotaract Club

2015 and is involved in a number of diverse ac=vi=es ranging

from being a tour guide and radio personality to having a 4th

degree black belt, owning a karate school and being a con-

sultant for the Barbados Tourism Product Authority. He is

also a Commissioned officer in the Barbados Coast Guard

bearing the rank of Ac=ng sub-Lieutenant. His classifica=on

is Entertainment—Consul=ng.

MEET OUR GREETERS:

RTN. SHAWN FRANKLIN is President Elect for 2018-19. He is a past Community Service and joined the Club on April 01,

2010. He was introduced by PP John Cabral. His classifica=on is

Valua=ons Surveyor. He has served as Director Community Service

from 2012-2015. Before that he served as Chair Children’s Homes

for 2011-12. in 2010-11 he served on the RYLA Commi�ee. For the

50th Anniversary Celebra=ons 2011-12 he served on the Mul=-

media Commi�ee. Shawn was awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship in

2014. He is a member of the Children’s Home Commi�ee.

RTN. ANDREW NIVEN Rotarian Andrew Niven joined the Rotary Club of Barbados on Oc-

tober 02, 2014. His Classifica=on is Beverages - Liquor Distribu=on.

He was introduced by Past President Ron Davis. He came to Bar-

bados more than eight years ago and with the encouragement of

his partner Sandie he set up a small wholesale business called Niv-

en Wholesale and Distribu=on supplying the supermarkets and

hotels with various products . A sub division of that company is

Wine. This year he serves on the Fellowship Commi�ee.
