RECAP AUGUST 4, 2016
THEME: ROTARY SERVING HUMANITY
The mee!ng on August 4, 2016 was a fellowship mee!ng.
This mee!ng saw the installa!on of PP Algernon Leacock as
the new Sergeant-At-Arms for the month of August. PP An-
drew Bynoe was congratulated by President Lisa for his ser-
vice as SAA for the month of July. Addi!onally, we were
visited by many including our “own” Rtn. Karen Smith who is
now a member of the Rotary Club of Bonn, Interna!onal.
As always the camaraderie and fellowship were tangible.
Our mee!ng was aptly managed by President Lisa who con-
cluded the mee!ng in a !mely manner. The below photos
evidence the enjoyment and fellowship had by all.
SAA PP Algie Leacock on the job at the mee�ng as he aptly
executes his du�es as SAA. Fines for the day were $200.00.
Well done.

CANCELLATION: ROTARACT CLUB OF BARBADOS : Paint-
ball compe��on
Director Neal advises that the Paintball compe��on which
was scheduled to be held by the Rotaract Club of Barbados
on Sunday August 14, 2016 has been cancelled. The Rotaract
Club of Barbados wishes to apologise for any inconvenience
which may have been caused.

Today is a business Mee!ng Plans and Programs
MEET OUR GREETERS : PP Michael W. Browne. His classifica�on is
Marke�ng Services and his knowledge of Rotary
Interna�onal, the District and our Club is im-
mense, making him an excellent resource person
for all members of the Club. PP Michael was in-
troduced to the Club by PP Lionel Moe on Septem-
ber 09, 1993 and was inducted as President in
2006. He was awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship in
June 2006 and has served the Club in many capac-
i�es including Secretary of the RCOB, Deputy Director, Fund Raising
Secretary, Vice President and Chair of the RotaNews Commi:ee. PP
Michael has also served as Assistant District Secretary Treasurer dur-
ing the years 2000-01. He is the immediate past Editor of the Club
Bulle�n having served as such for the past 2 years. He con�nues to
assist with the Club Bulle�ns and is a member of the Inves�ga�ons
and Archive Commi:ees.
Rtn. Berkeley Blades joined the Club on February
24, 1994. He served as Director Community Service
1998-99 and twice as Chairman Children’s Homes
1996-97 and 2002-03. Berkeley or Bee as he is
known to many indicates that “I have personally
visited every government children’s home during
my tenure as chairman of that commi8ee”. Bee
has always taken a keen interest in the environ-
ment and was a member of the Barbados Environmental Associa�on
prior to joining Rotary. He has been instrumental in securing “Flags”
and “Banners” for the Club. During the 2014-15 Berkeley served on
the Children’s Homes & Environment Commi:ees and on the Chil-
dren’s Homes Commi:ee. Berkeley recently completed a Community
Challenge during the 2015—16 year where he refurbished a bath-
room on Ward of the Geriatric Hospital. He currently serves on the
Guest Speakers/Class talks and the PR Commi:ee.

“Rotary is Ordinary People working together to accom-
plish Extraordinary Things! Rotary Interna�onal is the
world’s oldest (est. 1905) and largest service club organi-
za�on. RI has more than 1.2 million members in 33,000
clubs worldwide! Rotary club members are volunteers
who work together locally, regionally, and interna�onally
to leverage their resources and skills to combat hunger,
improve health and sanita�on, provide educa�on and job
training, promote peace, and eradicate deadly diseases
like polio, all under the mo:o of “Service Above Self”
ROTARY INTERNATIONAL NEWS: Sam Owori is selected to be
2018-19 Rotary president. Mr. Owori will become
president-nominee on 1 October. He will be de-
clared the president-nominee on 1 October if no
challenging candidates have been suggested. As
president, he plans to "harness that enthusiasm
and pride so that every project becomes the engine
of peace and prosperity." His chief concerns as a
Rotary leader are membership and extension. Mr. Owori is chief
execu�ve officer of the Ins�tute of Corporate Governance of Ugan-
da. He has studied law, employment rela�ons, business manage-
ment, corporate resources management, microfinance, and mar-
ke�ng at ins�tu�ons in England, Japan, Switzerland, Tanzania, and
the United States, including Harvard Business School. Since becom-
ing a member in 1978, Mr. Owori has served Rotary as regional
Rotary Founda�on coordinator, regional RI membership coordina-
tor, and RI Representa�ve to the United Na�ons Environment Pro-
gram and UN-Habitat. He has been a member or chair of several
commi:ees; he is a Benefactor of The Rotary Founda�on, and he
and his wife, Norah, are Major Donors and Paul Harris Fellows
