Beware of hazardousBeware of hazardousBeware of hazardousBeware of hazardousgasesgases

Living creatures cannot survive withoutsun, water, oxygen and carbon dioxide. When mixed carbon dioxide and water reactwith each other in the sun, they werechanged into carbohydrate and oxygenwhich are necessary for living things.

Increased amount of carbon dioxide inthe air has led to global warming, climatechanges, increased number of naturaldisasters, droughts and crop failures. Worldcountries are growing large numbers oftrees to make forests to protect the planetfrom dangers posed by increased amount ofcarbon dioxide and hazardous gases.

Fresh air is good for our health. Notmany people notice that there are manyhazardous gases in buildings, and hermeticrooms and vehicles.

Smoke from kitchens of airtight flatsand houses is also consisted of methane andother dangerous gases. Heaters and air-conditioners produce carbon monoxidewhen they do not work well. The gas emittedfrom a gas stove also is as hazardous ascarbon monoxide.

It is advisory that rubber pieces shouldnot be used as fuel because when on fire, they produce hazardous gases. If a personis poisoned with hazardous gases, he will bedelirious with dizziness and drowsiness, andsometimes can lose consciousness.

Therefore, the people are urged to set agood ventilation system in houses, buildingsand offices to avert harms caused byhazardous gases.

The BlackBerry Cyclone will be “similar to Apple TV,” according to the NerdBerryblog, which cited an unnamed source as “confirming” a number of functions and featureson the rumored media box, as well as a release date in the fall.

Those unconfirmed specs and details include claims that the streaming media box willconnect to televisions through an HDMI port, will be Wi-Fi-enabled and able to access othermedia devices on a home wireless network, will stream content from Netflix and YouTube, and will eventually have “more to come.”

NerdBerry didn’t provide any pictures of the rumored media box, but did say it “lookslike a larger version of BlackBerry Presenter,” a BlackBerry smartphone accessory that letsusers present Microsoft PowerPoint slides wirelessly from their phones (pictured above left).RIM has been struggling of late with lower-than-expected sales of its smartphones and thesluggish start for its first tablet device, the BlackBerry PlayBook. DALLAN, 17 July—Fire on a leakedpetrochemical device in northeastern coastal Cityof Dalian in Liaoning Province had been put out, company sources said Saturday evening.

No one died or was injured in the accident, which the company said had not caused pollutionto the sea or the air. An onsite monitoring showedthat concentrations of sulphur dioxide and nitrogenoxides in the surrounding air were below the nationalstandard of pollution. In the meantime, all waterused to quench the fire was guided into anemergency pond and no such water was dischargedinto the sea.

The fire was triggered off by leak in a distillationdevice at the Dalian Petrochemical Company ofPetroChina, a leading onshore oil producer of thenation, at around 2:25 pm Saturday. By 8 pm, thefire was “totally put out”, the company said in astatement.

Local environment authorities are keeping aneye on the pollutants of the fire and a furtherinvestigation into the cause of the fire is underway.—Internet

Family doctors misdiagnose coronaryheart disease

WASHINGTON, 17 July—A study on coronaryheart disease has foundthat family doctorsmisdiagnose patients asnot having CHD.

Of the 180 patients inthe study, 31.7 percent

had originally beenmisdiagnosed.

When a patientpresents with chest painas the main symptom, thefamily doctor has todecide whether immed-iate action is called for orwhether watchful waitingis an option. In thisdiagnostic crosssectionalstudy Stefan Bosner andhis colleagues evaluatedthe data of a total of 1249patients over the age of35 years who presentedto 74 participating familydoctors with chest pain.

From this data pool,Bosner and colleaguesextracted the doctors’initial suspected diag-nosis in respect ofcoronary heart disease(CHD).

In a total of 57 patients

the doctor wronglysuspected another causethan CHD for the chestpain. Nevertheless, thefamily doctors stillreferred one in three ofthe patients given such afalse negative diagnosisto a cardiologist.

In view of the numberof missed cases of CHD,there is an argument forconsidering a diagnosisof CHD in patients withless pronounced symp-toms.

However, the resear-chers believe that if the“diagnostic threshold”were to be lowered, theresult would be a dramaticrise in false positivediagnoses. The resultshave been published inthe current edition ofDeutsches ArzteblattInternational.—Internet

City firefighters arrived at what was thought to be a boarding house about 2am, Postmedia News reported. “The cause of the fire is still under investigation,”said Constable Jason Michalyshen, adding there was no reason to believe the firewas in any way connected to a recent string of gang-related arsons throughout thecity.
